Space is a warfighting domain. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build the technology that secures it.

OUR MISSION

True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority. We build autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors — enabling the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment and counter threats from the ultimate high ground.

OUR VALUES

  • Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity.
  • What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results.
  • It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together.

YOUR MISSION

We are seeking a talented and motivated Systems Test Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead and support the integration and verification of advanced space vehicle systems, ensuring all subsystems perform reliably together in demanding aerospace environments. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting integration and system-level tests, collaborating closely with design, hardware, and software teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration, bring-up, and testing of hardware and software subsystems throughout the space vehicle production lifecycle.
  • Drive system-level validation and testing campaigns on engineering and qualification hardware, including electrical, mechanical, structural, propulsion, and avionics, to ensure sustained system functionality and reliability.
  • Plan, develop, and execute comprehensive integration and test procedures for multidisciplinary systems and subsystems, including hardware, software, and communication interfaces.
  • Develop and implement test plans and strategies for hardware development programs, coordinating across engineering functions.
  • Lead troubleshooting and failure investigations at subsystem and system level, rapidly identifying root causes and coordinating solutions across functional teams.
  • Define requirements, success criteria, and interface controls for multidisciplinary system integration activities.
  • Ensure all test activities, results, and system builds are thoroughly documented and configuration controlled to support traceability and future missions.
  • Participate in requirement reviews, design reviews, system readiness checkpoints, and integration readiness reviews.
  • Support system verification and validation activities across various test platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Years of experience in system integration and/or test engineering for aerospace applications (spaceflight, satellites, spacecraft, or similar) in line with engineering level.
  • Practical experience with integration and verification of various hardware and software subsystems, such as Power, Comms (CAN, UART, RS-422, Ethernet), GNC (GPS/IMUs), RF systems, and/or Propulsion.
  • Hands-on experience with system-level test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, DAQs, signal generators, flow meters, leak detection equipment, etc.).
  • Proficient in developing test plans, requirements tracing, test scripts (Python, MATLAB, or similar), and test automation tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of space-relevant avionics qualification and acceptance standards (e.g., NASA-STD-8739.4, ECSS, MIL-STD-1540, MIL-STD-883, NASA GEVS, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with space vehicle or satellite bus integration & test processes.
  • Knowledge of system safety, fault management, and redundancy in space vehicle architectures.
  • Experience with environmental and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, requirements management, and issue tracking tools.
  • Previous work with mission operations or on-orbit test and diagnosis is a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Base Salary:

  • Systems Test Engineer 1: $85,000-$105,000
  • Systems Test Engineer 2:  $100,000-$120,000

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
