Title: Systems Engineer
Location: Remote (Texas-Based)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to help maintain and expand critical services for key company initiatives. The IT Engineering team supports always-on services companywide. We set ambitious, often uncertain goals, learn from failures, and iterate quickly. Our focus is rapid shipping of tools with automated testing and root cause analysis to stay agile. You will act as a strategic link between business operations and technology teams by analyzing operational workflows through lean practices, orchestrating automation solutions, deploying artificial intelligence to solve business challenges, and driving process improvements. You will also help us build and maintain our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with other engineers and developers to deploy and operate our systems, optimize our processes, and ensure the reliability and performance of our applications. The role requires a results-oriented, data-driven mindset, coding/scripting skills, and familiarity with AI tools to support cross-functional collaboration within a diverse workforce. As part of a DevOps model, expect an occasional on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
· Analyze operational workflows using lean methodologies to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
· Develop and maintain process documentation
· Support digital transformation and operational excellence programs
· Work from business needs to build features and systems that directly impact our employees and improve efficiency
· Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks, workflows, data processing, and reporting (TamperMonkey, Python, VBA, Java, etc.)
· Integrate with Microsoft 365 applications and APIs
· Collaborate with partner teams or use APIs for more advanced process automation
· Identify and apply use cases with AI tools and agents in operations
· Leverage existing scalable tech platforms and solutions
· Take full ownership of projects and deliverables with minimal supervision
· Champion the agile software development lifecycle including design reviews, code reviews, and operational support, while adhering to engineering best practices
· Communicate insights and progress clearly with different levels of stakeholders and leadership in various formats both written and verbal
· Act as liaison to external tech teams for collaboration and integration
· Collaborate with engineering, operational, and technical program management teams to evaluate, test, and implement improvement solutions
Qualifications
· 3+ years of systems administration experience (Windows/Mac/Linux)
· 2+ years networking experience (TCP/IP)
· Automation development experience
· Strong scripting language (Bash, Shell, Python, PowerShell, etc.)
· Experience integrating with REST APIs and web services
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
· Experience with databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar)
· Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
· Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
· Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
· Experience with Power Automate
Education & Certifications
· Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree
· 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
· Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
· Experience programming with at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby, etc.)
· Azure services knowledge
· Healthcare or regulated industry experiences
· DevOps automation tool experience (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, CloudFormation, etc.)
