Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Engineer – Level 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA.

*Please be aware that this position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding. Additionally, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.*

This role is for a highly motivated Systems Engineer, specializing in Systems Architecture, who will operate within a study, capture, or program execution effort and focus on driving consistency and alignment across technical thread capabilities to define a complete architecture solution.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Work with systems engineering stakeholders across capability threads and operations to develop and refine advanced system architectures and operational concepts that align with mission objectives.

-Develop and maintain architecture artifacts (Technical Description Document, CONOPS/OPSCON) that contain a detailed, comprehensive overview of the entire system design and operations.

-Support mission planning and execution by ensuring all documentation reflects current system status and operational intent.

-Support trade studies to evaluate design decisions and defining the resulting architecture

-Several efforts embrace a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach in which case the responsibilities extend to leveraging MBSE tools, methodologies, and workflows to develop, maintain, and validate system models as the technical baseline for the effort.

-Support the Systems Engineering team to define and document the system design, requirements, interfaces, and mission/operational concept within the MBSE tool suite.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer – Level 4:

-Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 6+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 4+ years of engineering experience

-Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have active SCI access at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Preferred Qualifications for Systems Engineer – Level 4:

-Understanding and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Cameo Enterprise Architect, and SysML modeling (or equivalent)

-Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and enjoys tackling complex engineering challenges

-Strong communication and time management skills

-Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills

-Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) clearance along with active SCI access at time of application and prior to start date

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
