Your day at NTT DATA
As a System Administrator L3, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the efficiency, security, and reliability of our organization's IT infrastructure. You will work with a team to implement and manage applications on Windows and Linux server solutions. Your responsibilities will include managing and troubleshooting complex systems and servers to ensure optimal performance and availability. You will leverage your expertise in system administration to implement best practices, resolve technical issues, and provide guidance to junior team members. The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, technically proficient, skilled in problem-solving, knowledgeable about enterprise systems, and able to foster teamwork and leadership.
What you'll be doing
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, configure, and monitor Windows and/or Linux operating systems and related software applications.

Manage and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to ensure optimum performance and resource allocation.

Perform regular system maintenance, including software updates, patches, and security configurations.
-
Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues, providing timely resolution and documentation.
-
Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
-
Administer and support enterprise storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS) and backup solutions.
-
Investigate and troubleshoot complex system issues and outages using advanced diagnostic tools. Provide timely resolutions or escalation to minimize business impact. Document troubleshooting procedures and maintain a knowledge base.

Participate in change management processes, including reviewing and implementing system changes, updates, and enhancements. Assess the impact of changes on system performance, stability, and security. Follow established change management procedures and maintain proper documentation.
KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES

Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Proficiency in administering enterprise storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS) and backup solutions.

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash

Solid understanding of ITIL principles and best practices for incident, problem, and change management.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams to plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.

Creation and maintenance of documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Mentorship and guidance to junior system administrators, fostering their professional growth and knowledge.

Staying up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions and improvements.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience typically obtained in 8-10 years of directly related experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
-
Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, with a focus on complex system design, implementation, and administration.
-
Strong knowledge of systems, including servers, networks, storage, and virtualization technologies.
-
Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux) and associated administration tools.
-
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide innovative solutions.
-
Familiarity with IT security principles, practices, and compliance requirements.
-
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly moves equipment and other hardware up to 25 lbs.

Frequently move about inside and outside of data center / facility

Remain stationary for long periods of time.

Ascend / Descend a ladder and perform duties atop a raised platform.

Position self in small spaces.

Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.

Perform work during US business hours and time zones.
WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Remote work with extensive daily usage of a computer.

Visit the Data Centers on an as needed basis.
-
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.

Provide 24 x 7 support as needed.

Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

Occasional travel may be required.
This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $104,800 - $157,000
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
