SUMMARY

The System/Network Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Excite Credit Union's technology infrastructure, including network, server, cloud, telecommunications, security, and computing environments. This role ensures the availability, integrity, performance, and security of the organization's systems and network infrastructure while supporting business operations 24/7.

The incumbent will maintain and support network devices, servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, operating systems, telephony systems, cybersecurity solutions, and disaster recovery capabilities. This position requires strong technical expertise, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues before they impact operations.

The System/Network Administrator works closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager, vendors, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technology solutions meet business, regulatory, security, and operational requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure Administration

  • Administer and support the Credit Union's network, servers, storage, cloud, telecommunications, and virtualization infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and performance.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VoIP systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery platforms.
  • Configure and maintain network devices, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and security appliances.
  • Perform system optimization, capacity planning, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.

  Network & Security Management

  • Implement and maintain security controls to protect systems, networks, and data.
  • Monitor and manage cybersecurity solutions including firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM, intrusion prevention, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Remediate identified vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and high-availability architectures.

System Maintenance & Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, network, server, and application issues.
  • Manage operating system, firmware, and software updates across the environment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and technology support.
  • Provide Tier II/III technical support and participate in on-call support rotations.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
  • Administer and monitor backup and recovery processes to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintain and test disaster recovery plans, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support recovery efforts during outages and ensure recovery objectives are met.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, system configurations, inventories, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Support audits, examinations, licensing compliance, and technology governance initiatives.
  • Ensure infrastructure and operations align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Strategic & Team Responsibilities

  • Research, recommend, and implement infrastructure and security improvements.
  • Participate in technology planning, budgeting, procurement, and vendor management activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and process automation to improve efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Requirements

    

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field or 5+ years comparable experience
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
  • Expert knowledge of Network Infrastructure protocols/applications including:  DHCP, DNS, Radius, 802.1q, TCP/IP, https, ssh, ftp, sftp, ftps, Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), and Microsoft Certificate Authority (CA)
  • Strong understanding of VLANs, network segmentation, etherchannel, VLAN trunking, HSRP, failover, and high availability architectures and protocols
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Cisco Unified Computing System, Nexus / Catalyst switches, Meraki, ASA firewalls, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Network architecture experience, including implementation of all network devices and compute systems
  • Utilization of network and system monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and NetFlow
  • Deep understanding and experience utilizing Microsoft Active Directory (AD), including implementation and administration
  • Knowledge of network devices including: wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, and controllers.
  • Knowledge of voice over IP (VoIP) phone systems, including implementation and maintenance
  • Manage Servers, Storage, backup and restore
  • Experience with M365 Administration
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure protocols.

Desirable Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in  Information Technology related field or 10+ years comparable experience 
  • Cisco CCIE certification
