The Role:

We are seeking an exceptional SVP, Real Money Gaming to lead and scale our advertising business with RMG Clients. Genius is transforming sports media through its exclusive sports audiences, Moment Engine, and unique sports inventory. These products sit at the forefront of fan activation, data analytics, and digital transformation, powering a curated media business that has grown from the ground up to quickly becoming a known entity across the world of digital media.

This is a builder's mandate, not a maintenance role: you'll be responsible for the P&L, the commercial strategy, and the operating discipline behind the next phase of growth.  You'll work closely with other commercial leaders, product, and marketing to shape the business.

You’ll bring direct, active relationships with the gaming industry’s CMOs and leadership teams. You’ll also bring the operating chops to build pricing discipline and deal governance into a business that's scaling fast, and a track record of diversifying revenue so growth isn't dependent on a handful of accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

P&L Ownership & Scaling
Own the P&L for the RMG media business unit.
Set commercial strategy and growth priorities, and be accountable for the numbers behind them.
Run a disciplined commercial function that is set up to scale with the right talent in the right places.
Anticipate shifts in clients, competitors, and the broader market, and align commercial leadership to major trade-offs and investment choices.

Strategic Relationship Building

Bring and activate direct, active relationships with CMOs and the leadership teams of the largest brands in gaming.
Convert an existing pipeline into revenue growth starting in year one.

Pricing Discipline, Deal Governance, and Diversification

Build pricing discipline and deal governance appropriate for a fast-scaling business, negotiating and closing strategic deals that protect margin as well as growth.
Build the forecasting, reporting, and pipeline discipline needed to run the business predictably at scale, and hold the team accountable to it.
Actively reduce concentration risk by diversifying revenue across a broader base of RMG advertisers and partners, drawing on prior experience doing this in a scaling media business.

Cross-Functional & Industry Leadership

Operate as a peer to other commercial leaders, product, and marketing - shaping the business jointly rather than running sales as a standalone function.
Turn patterns you see across customers and the market into input for product direction and enterprise-level strategic partnerships.
Represent Genius Sports as a thought leader in the gaming industry.

Team & People Leadership

Actively lead and manage an existing global team, assessing capability and structure against where the business needs to go and taking swift action to address any gaps/challenges.
Proactively evolve the org as revenue scales — reshape roles, add capability, and build out the team in step with growth.
Build leadership bench strength and succession plans within the team, and hold managers accountable for talent and culture as well as revenue.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A proven P&L owner who has scaled a media business past $100M.
  • Deep fluency in programmatic media and the wider ad tech landscape.
  • Demonstrated experience building pricing discipline and deal governance in a scaling business - this is a builder mandate, not a maintenance role.
  • A track record of diversifying revenue away from a small number of advertisers, having reduced concentration risk in a prior seat.
  • A peer-level operator who works closely with media, product, and data leadership rather than operating as a standalone sales function.
  • Experience leading and evolving a team through a high-growth phase — comfortable inheriting a team, assessing performance, and reshaping it as the business scales.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills at the C-suite level.

This role offers an annualized salary of $250,000 to $300,000 USD, plus variable compensation, and includes eligibility for Genius Sports Group’s benefits plan.

We enjoy an ‘office-first’ culture and maximize opportunities to collaborate, connect and learn together. Our hybrid working models differ depending on your role and location. Occasional travel may be required.

As well as a competitive salary and range of benefits, we’re committed to supporting employee wellbeing and helping you grow your skills, experience and career. Learn more about how rewarding life at Genius can be at Reward | Genius Sports.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
