Job Description

  

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that externally provided products, materials, and services conform to specified requirements, including engineering, contractual, and regulatory standards. This role drives supplier performance, supports risk mitigation, and ensures compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements to maintain product quality and supply chain integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop supplier quality performance, including monitoring KPIs such as defect rates, on-time delivery, and corrective action responsiveness.
  • Perform supplier evaluations, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier documentation, including First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102), Process Control Plans, and inspection records.
  • Lead and coordinate supplier corrective actions (SCARs), including root cause analysis (8D, 4-Square, RCCA) and effectiveness verification.
  • Support new supplier qualification and onboarding, including capability assessments and risk analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with flow-down requirements, including engineering specifications, key characteristics, and special process controls.
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and improve supplier performance.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers on inspection methods, process controls, and quality requirements.
  • Review and disposition Receiving Inspection Nonconforming material rejection reports.
  • Review, process, and approve supplier requests for deviations, waivers, and clarifications.
  • Support incoming inspection and containment activities for nonconforming materials.
  • Analyze supplier performance data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in customer, regulatory, and third-party audits (e.g., DCMA, FAA, EASA, OEM audits).
  • Ensure supplier adherence to traceability, configuration management, and documentation control requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or quality engineering
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data packages
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, FMEA)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and quality data analysis tools (Excel, etc.)
  • Must be a U.S. Person (includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees)

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Electronics manufacturing / controlled environment
  • Use of microscopes and fine inspection tools; may require extended periods of sitting
  • Office and manufacturing environment with regular supplier interaction
  • Occasional travel required for supplier audits and evaluations

  

Salary Range:

$77,900.00-$103,800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
