T-Mobile didn’t become a leader by following the playbook. We got here by breaking it. We’re a disruptor that now plays on a higher tier, and we’re still raising the bar for millions of customers nationwide. If you want to work somewhere that sets the standard instead of matching it, this is your place. This is an 11-week paid learning experience where you’ll do real work, not busywork. You’ll build relationships with other interns and leaders across the company, and you’ll be paired with mentors who will challenge you to grow skills that matter. We’ll give you hands-on projects with real stakes, and we expect your creativity and sharp ideas to make an immediate impact. You’ll work alongside T-Mobile employees who have your back and who still believe the best ideas can come from anyone.
What It’s Like
You’ll join the team responsible for execution performance across T-Mobile’s Reverse Logistics Return Centers. We’re small enough that you’ll be seen and heard, and big enough that your work matters. The pace is fast: at over 1M devices a month, this is a high-velocity operation. You’ll sit onsite at the return center alongside our TMO Operations and Supplier Operations teams. A typical week mixes time on the floor with the people doing the work, analysis of live process data, and working sessions to share what you’re finding.
What You’ll Do
You’ll evaluate real processes inside the return center and recommend changes that make them faster, leaner, and more accurate. Every device that comes through needs the right routing and disposition decision, so small improvements add up to real dollar and customer impact. Your work will help T-Mobile get devices back to retail and customers faster, keeping us ahead.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate targeted return center processes, including handoffs between processes, to find efficiency opportunities
- Analyze the inventory pipeline and aging to identify where devices stall and why
- Map device touchpoints and measure dwell time to expose delays and waste
- Conduct process time studies on the floor to establish baselines and standard work
- Quantify the impact of improvement ideas on required labor, velocity, cycle time, and inventory levels
- Translate data and findings into clear recommendations for operations leaders and non-technical audiences
- Partner with TMO and Supplier Operations teams to test, refine, and drive adoption of changes
What It Takes
- You’re curious and challenge assumptions. You ask why a process works the way it does, and whether it needs to.
- You move with urgency and are comfortable in a high-volume, fast-moving environment.
- You use analytical thinking to solve problems, and you explain your findings in plain language.
- You collaborate well and earn trust with cross-functional teams, including the people on the floor.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt), Kaizen, 5S, DMAIC, value stream mapping, time and motion studies, and root cause analysis is a plus.
- Certifications or credentials, completed or in progress, are a plus: Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, IISE Lean, APICS/ASCM (CSCP, CPIM), or data analytics skills (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Python).
