We are a leading Enterprise AI and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) company helping global organizations automate document-heavy workflows across mortgage, insurance, construction, and manufacturing.

We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) – US Mortgage Underwriting. As our go-to authority on underwriting and QC, you will work directly with US lender and servicer clients and guide our product, AI, and operations teams. This role is ideal for a seasoned underwriter who is as comfortable on a client call as deep in a loan file.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client discovery sessions, workshops, and business reviews, and build trusted relationships with underwriting, QC, and compliance leaders
  • Turn client guidelines, overlays, and QC checklists into clear requirements for product and delivery teams
  • Handle client escalations and guideline-interpretation questions, and support pre-sales, demos, and RFPs
  • Act as the final authority on complex underwriting and QC decisions across VA, FHA, and Conventional loans
  • Audit pre- and post-closing QC reviews for accuracy and root cause, and flag recurring defect patterns
  • Define extraction fields, validation rules, and edge cases for mortgage documents, and review AI output for accuracy
  • Track regulatory and guideline updates (VA, HUD, GSE, TRID, ATR/QM), support audits, and train internal and client teams

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 7+ years in US residential mortgage underwriting and/or post-closing QC across VA, FHA, and Conventional loans
  • Proven client-facing experience with US clients, including handling escalations
  • Expert knowledge of VA Pamphlet 26-7, HUD 4000.1, and the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guides
  • DE certification (FHA) and VA SAR, or equivalent
  • Experience with Encompass, ACES, DocMagic, Calyx, or similar platforms
  • Excellent communication skills and flexibility to overlap with US business hours

Good-to-Have Skills

  • USDA, Jumbo, and Non-QM knowledge, plus familiarity with TRID, ATR/QM, ECOA, and RESPA
  • CMB or similar certification
  • Experience in mortgage tech, SaaS, consulting, or customer success
  • Exposure to AI/IDP automation or to writing business requirements
  • HUD/VA audit or investor QC experience
  • Excel/Power BI reporting, or a Six Sigma/Lean background

Looking forward to speaking with you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
