The Role

The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for all sites in areas such as raw material, equipment, consumables, COTS hardware, and outside processing; ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance. This role works closely with pre-sales engineering, quality, and operations teams on early engagement to; align supplier capabilities with program requirements, manage supplier relationships, and drive best in class cost structures.

What You'll Do

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead sourcing efforts for assigned commodities, including supplier identification, selection, and onboarding.

  • Develop and execute creative commodity strategies and commercial deals to achieve best in class performance in cost, supply and quality.

  • Effectively engage with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for master supply agreements and statements of work.

  • Maintain strong relationships with supplier executive teams and own the escalation path.

  • Monitor global supplier performance using defined metrics and organize supplier business reviews.

  • Collaborate with pre-sales engineering teams on program early engagement to ensure technical requirements are met, appropriate capability exists within the supply base and supplier selection aligns with commodity strategy.

  • Ensure accurate purchasing throughout the global ERP system.

  • Monitor and manage supply chain risk including identifying and addressing potential failure points.

  • Collaborate with supplier development team to create supplier capability and technology roadmaps and ensure supplier executive backing.

  • Develop supply chain strategy for any new sites assessing capabilities to be local versus global.

  • Perform make versus buy analysis and recommend areas to invest in internal capability.

  • Analyze long term demand to develop future supply chain capacity and capability plans.

  • Travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%) to meet with suppliers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or related field.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing and commodity management.

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems with experience developing requirements,

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Exceptional negotiation and supplier relationship skills.

  • Ability to switch between meticulous attention to detail and big-picture strategic thinking.

  • Capable of thinking and staying focused under pressure.

  • Excellent decision-making skills and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Aerospace or automotive manufacturing experience.

  • Knowledge of AS9100 standards and export control regulations.

  • Experience in rapid-growth and fast paced manufacturing environments.

  • Proven capabilities in complex contract negotiations for commercial, trade and legal aspects

  • Ability to support resolution of complex supply chain issues.

  • Direct experience in long-term capacity planning a plus.

  • Expertise in commodity management in one of the following areas: raw materials (metals), surfacing finishing (anodizing etc.) or CapEx.

Compensation

For this role, the target salary range is $105,000 - $190,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
