About Bespoke Labs

Bespoke Labs is an applied AI research lab pioneering data and RL environment curation for training and evaluating agents.

Recently, we curated Open Thoughts, one of the best open reasoning datasets used by multiple frontier labs, trained SOTA specialized models such as Bespoke-MiniChart-7B and Bespoke-MiniCheck, and taught agents to do multi-turn tool-calling with reinforcement learning.

We are also core contributors to Terminal-bench, a leading benchmark for agents used by most frontier labs. Bespoke Labs creates RL environments for frontier labs and specialized agents for enterprises.

About the Role

We need an SPL who obsesses over operational excellence, thrives in ambiguity, and can own multi-million dollar contracts with labs and enterprises from day one.

What You'll Do

Project Ownership & Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery of customer projects by managing budget, schedule, and scope

  • Track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring quality standards are met

  • Identify bottlenecks early and resolve problems before they become blockers

  • Communicate directly with customers to understand needs, set priorities, and manage expectations

Operations & Scale

  • Build and scale data pipelines and operational processes that drive real revenue

  • Manage large teams of global experts (annotators, engineers, domain specialists)

  • Coordinate work across distributed teams to hit aggressive deadlines

  • Design systems and workflows from scratch when playbooks don't exist

Strategy & Decision-Making

  • Make high-impact decisions daily on resource allocation, scope, and trade-offs

  • Use data analysis (SQL/Python) to track performance and optimize operations

  • Organize, plan, and prioritize work across multiple concurrent projects

  • Wear multiple hats: ops, strategy, product, and execution

What We're Looking For

  • Technical foundation: CS/Engineering degree, comfortable with SQL/Python for data analysis

  • Project management chops: 1+ years managing complex projects, teams, or operations (PM experience is a major plus)

  • Scrappy mindset: You figure things out without a playbook and build solutions from first principles

  • Communication skills: You can coordinate teams, brief stakeholders, and resolve conflicts effectively

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
