About Turn/River

Turn/River Capital is a private equity firm that partners with software businesses to drive AI transformation and catalyze capital-efficient growth. As a team of equal parts software operators and investors, we have the people, data-driven playbooks and flexible capital to re-architect engineering, product, go-to-market, talent and resourcing to build enduring value. Founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, Turn/River has $5.6bn in committed capital and invests globally with a focus on North America and Europe.

About the Role

You will be the analytical partner for one of our portfolio companies. Investment and Operating Leads will bring you their hardest revenue questions: why retention moved, where new customer revenue actually comes from, which pricing change is worth making. Those questions often arrive half-formed. Your job is to find the real question, get the data, build the analysis, and deliver a recommendation that holds up in front of our Ops and Investment teams, a portfolio company CEO, or firm leadership. You will sit in a pod with a Data Analytics Lead who owns the portfolio company relationship and a platform team that builds the data pipes. You own the analysis, the dashboards, the recommendation, and its revenue impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own value-creation analysis for your portfolio company: retention and cohorts, pricing and packaging, pipeline and funnel yield, and revenue source mapping.

  • Build from raw data, not someone else’s summary. Pull and check the numbers yourself in SQL, our BI tools, and our AI agents.

  • Use AI to compress your cycle time, and flag what should be automated for everyone.

  • Turn findings into recommendations with a quantified revenue impact, a clear owner, and a next step.

  • Support new deals and add-ons when the deal team needs speed.

  • Turn any analysis that gets requested twice into a reusable template or tool for the portfolio and the whole Ops team.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in SaaS FP&A or strategic finance, technology investment banking, or strategy consulting with software clients.

  • Command of SaaS economics: ARR bridges, gross and net retention, cohorts, pricing, and unit economics.

  • Experience building models from scratch and producing output that executives can use without rework.

  • Proficiency in SQL and comfort in messy, raw data; demonstrated ability to use AI tools or automation, ideally without being asked.

  • Structured thinker who can break complex revenue processes into systems of components, root causes, and dependencies.

  • Hands-on, execution-oriented, and accountable for results—this is a building role, not an advisory one.

  • Curious, experimental operator who takes feedback well and continuously tests new approaches and technologies

  • Experience owning a relationship with a CFO, CRO, or business unit leader is preferred

Location

  • San Francisco, hybrid work model

Compensation

  • The annual base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $155,000, taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.

Benefits and Perks

The below benefits are offered to full-time employees based out of our San Francisco office:

  • An opportunity to make an impact across multiple high-growth tech firms

  • Competitive salary and discretionary bonus

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance covered 100% for employee & dependents

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • 401K matching

  • Paid parental leave

  • Commuter benefits

  • Health and Wellness benefits

  • Household Services benefits

  • Home Office benefits

  • Annual Home Office Equipment Reimbursement

  • Donation matching

  • Work from home Monday & Friday

  • Energetic work environment with snacks and weekly team lunches 3x per week, centrally located near multiple public transit lines

  • A company that enjoys having fun: holiday parties, annual company offsite and retreat, annual summer "work from anywhere" month

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
