ABOUT US

Mezcla is a plant-based snack brand based in NYC. Mezcla has won over tens of thousands of consumers, earned features in Forbes, NY Post and E! News, and is carried in retail stores nationwide from small independents to Whole Foods, H-E-B and CVS (launching soon). We recently closed our Series A backed by leading investors: institutional (Dream Ventures, Santatera Capital) ecommerce/CPG founders (Shopify, MVMT, Koia, Dream Pops) and strategic angels (Seth Curry, ex-President of Giant, CEO of BODYARMOR, CEO of BrightFarms).

WHAT YOU’LL DO

On the strategic finance side, you’ll focus on…

  • Develop finance operations, processes and best practices in partnership with our 3rd party accountancy.

  • Play a critical role in creating analyses and building models that will define the future of Mezcla’s business.

  • Serve as connective tissue between operations, sales and marketing.

  • Effectively communicating financial results and forecasts.

  • Quarterback development of investor relations materials (e.g., Board materials).

 On the operations side, you’ll…

  • Coordinate with our Operations Director to streamline processes across production, packaging, inventory, supply planning, demand planning, logistics, warehousing and S&OP.

  • Develop performance plans + cross-functional KPIs / metrics we can track, collaborating with relevant team members.

  • Identify margin improvement opportunities through cost savings and efficiency enhancements.

  • De-risk supply chain by sourcing suppliers of key ingredients and moving them through our co-man’s approval process.

  • Build for the future: assess where we can benefit from using vendors, when we should engage them, and lead the engagement.

On the strategy side, you’ll focus on…

  • Strategic planning – Help CEO / COO set company-wide direction and business goals (e.g., annual KPIs), that lay out the company’s vision and roadmap.

  • Operating cadences – Ensure that regular daily, weekly and quarterly company-wide rituals (e.g., leadership meetings, functional standups) are in place and running smoothly.

  • Special projects - Jumping in on high-priority and urgent strategic opportunities.

  • Innovation – Quarterback innovation roadmap for high-margin and high-velocity products and line extensions, lead NPI development across supply chain (e.g., co-man, fulfillment, etc).

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Willingness to help with big and small tasks that come up in the world of start-ups.

  • 4+ years of experience in high velocity organization (e.g., consulting, investment banking, startups).

  • Experience developing strategies and executing; if you don’t have experience executing, we want to know if deep ownership scares you.

  • Deep knowledge of supply chain structure (3PLs, contract manufacturing).

  • Culture fit: no ego, team-first mentality and customer / product obsessed.

  • Plus: Strong interest in bringing innovative plant-based snack options to consumers.

  • Plus: Start-up experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
