Summary

We are hiring a Staff Solutions Architect (Remote, based in London, United Kingdom) to own and grow the DACH territory. This role partners closely with sales, product, and engineering to help prospective and existing customers design, validate, and scale mission-critical systems on Temporal.

You will work directly with engineering leaders and senior developers at high-growth and enterprise customers, helping them understand when and how to use Temporal, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring successful adoption across their organizations.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a strategic technical advisor to Sales Account Executives, assisting with scoping and sizing opportunities and offering guidance on technical fit and challenges for the DACH region.
  • Lead customer discovery to understand architecture, constraints, and success criteria, and map those to Temporal-based solutions
  • Design end-to-end reference architectures that demonstrate how Temporal fits into existing services, data stores, and infrastructure
  • Build and deliver high-impact demos and technical narratives that clearly show how Temporal solves real customer pain
  • Run deep technical workshops, whiteboard sessions, and proof-of-concept engagements with engineering and architecture teams
  • Provide hands-on guidance on best practices for workflow and activity design, testing strategies, and operationalization of Temporal in production
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks in customer projects, escalating and collaborating with Product and Engineering as needed
  • Capture and communicate customer feedback and feature requests into Product, influencing roadmap and prioritization
  • Contribute to reusable assets for the field (reference architectures, example workflows, solution playbooks, and enablement content)
  • Represent Temporal in customer meetings, executive briefings, and at community events or conferences in the DACH market
What You’ll Bring
  • Significant experience (typically several years) in customer-facing, technical pre-sales or post-sales roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Field Engineer, or equivalent
  • Strong background in designing and operating distributed systems or cloud-native applications, with a deep understanding of reliability, scalability, and failure modes
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, outcome-focused narratives for both technical and business audiences
  • Proficiency in building application prototypes and providing design, development, build, and deployment guidance using one or more of Temporal’s supported languages: Java, Golang, TypeScript, Python, C#, Ruby or PHP.
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure) and common infrastructure components (networking, messaging, observability, CI/CD)
  • Proven track record partnering with sales teams on strategic accounts, including working through technical evaluations, proof-of-concept stages, and production rollouts
  • Experience working with or advising large customers in DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), with comfort navigating complex stakeholder environments
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust with senior engineers and technical leaders
Nice to Haves
  • Prior experience working with Temporal or similar workflow/orchestration, event-driven, or durable execution systems
  • Experience in a high-growth, developer-focused infrastructure or platform company
  • German language skills are highly preferred but not essential, plus strong English communication in both written and spoken form
  • Familiarity with common patterns such as event sourcing, CQRS, microservices, and data-intensive or low-latency systems
  • Experience speaking at meetups, conferences, or producing technical content (blogs, videos, or sample code) for developer audiences
Compensation
  • The estimated pay range for this role is £165,000 - £185,000.
  • This is a base salary and variable role with a 70/30 split.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Temporal's equity plan.

Compensation ranges reflect salary and commission compensation (when applicable) across several geographic markets. Employment offers carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, knowledge, expertise, skillset, market location, and job level assessed during the interview process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
