We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to lead our Revenue+ team at Snap Inc!. The Revenue+ team is a medium-sized group that has recently expanded from 10 to 29 engineers and is central to Snap's direct revenue monetization strategy. This team is responsible for driving 10 to 15 percent of Snap's total revenue. In this role, you will set the technical direction for architecture across different direct monetization initiatives, defining how we build scalable, high-performance, and discoverable experiences and features. You will act as a technical lead, mentoring senior and junior engineers while partnering with other engineering, product and Data science teams to ensure reliability for high-traffic subscription backend and client features. We operate with a startup mentality, fast-moving, results focused, and in close partnership with Product and Data Science teams.
What you’ll do:
Technical leadership at scale: Leading the design and delivery of large, cross-team systems, setting technical direction, and driving architectural decisions.
Platform Strategy: Define the long-term technical roadmap for platform approach solution for IAP and other direct revenue initiatives leveraged by other feature teams.
Tooling & Efficiency: Build advanced tooling, automation, and template systems that enables the Revenue+ and other product teams to ship faster while maintaining high quality and performance standards.
Cross-Functional Impact: Collaborate with data, growth, security, and infrastructure partners to optimize our subscription and features.
Mentorship: Mentor L5 and senior and junior engineers, leading code reviews and technical design discussions to grow engineering expertise across the team. As well as participate in hiring, interviews and growing the talent pipeline.
Individual Contribution Across Stack: While you are working with a team of engineers and unblocking them, you would be still contributing individually to our code base and implementing PRs in your area of expertise, or across our stack.
Strategy: Drive the multi-year technical strategy by identifying opportunities. Implement this strategy directly, or achieve delivery through broad technical influence and effective organizational dynamics.
Technology Leadership: Proactively monitor and assess emerging industry trends to recommend and implement improvements that enhance team productivity, product quality, or performance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at significant scale
You can independently execute on medium to large sized features, taking a few weeks/months and multiple PRs to complete, while simultaneously leading a team of engineers.
You understand the operational aspects of your system and may participate in incident or hotfix investigation and resolution
You ensure a strong focus on customer experience, driving the right problem-solving approach for both yourself and your team.
You are an effective verbal and written communicator, and you ensure consistent communication with your stakeholders.
Ability to collaborate and work well with others across different expertise and tracks.
Proven capacity to solve problems and effectively guide both yourself and your team through highly ambiguous project situations.
Possesses strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, enabling quick progress while maintaining flexibility through thorough pro and con analysis.
Engineering Excellence: Champion of domain-driven design, functional programming principles, and rigorous testing methodologies (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience.
9+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 8+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 5+ years of post-grad software development experience.
Extensive experience with software architecture and system design.
Experience leading technical projects or teams from ideation to production.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cross Platform Development: Familiarity with cross platform development such as React, React Native, Valid, Flutter or others.
Mentorship Experience: Experience with mentoring Senior and Junior engineering for career development and growth.
Strong experience and understanding of object oriented languages and familiarity with Objective-c, Swift, Go or TypeScript.
Experience with mobile development and application lifecycle management.

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):
The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.
Zone B:
The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.Zone C:
The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.Top Skills
