ABOUT THE TEAM
Technology is at the core of what we do. The AI Engineering team at Basis Technologies builds and scales machine learning and generative AI systems that power our programmatic advertising platform. We work closely with Data Science, Platform, and Application Engineering teams to deliver intelligent automation, real-time optimization, and deep performance insights across the media buying lifecycle.

WAYS YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE
As a Staff AI Engineer, you’ll serve as a technical leader, designing and implementing the next generation of AI-powered systems across our platform. You will be both hands-on and strategic, balancing deep technical execution with architectural leadership. To be successful, you will contribute by:
- Collaborating with Data Science and Product teams to design, build, and scale AI-powered features across our media buying platform.
- Build scalable infrastructure to support model training, evaluation, and real-time inference over billions of daily events.
- Prototyping and operationalizing cutting-edge generative AI approaches to unlock new capabilities for our customers.
- Leading cross-team technical initiatives and establishing best practices for reliability, observability, and responsible AI.
- Influencing architectural decisions that shape the long-term direction of AI at Basis Technologies.
- Mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of code quality, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant time spent delivering machine learning or generative AI systems in production.
- Proficiency in Python and Java, or similar languages.
- Experience designing and scaling APIs and data pipelines in distributed or cloud-native environments.
- Experience with both batch and real-time data processing frameworks such as Kafka, Spark, or Airflow.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives involving multiple teams or systems.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, impact-focused mindset.
- Commitment to creating inclusive, respectful environments where all voices are valued and supported.
BONUS POINTS
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Prior experience in ad tech, large-scale recommender systems, or real-time bidding platforms
- Familiarity with MLOps principles, including model versioning, feature stores, A/B testing, and CI/CD for ML
- Experience with responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation and model explainability
- Experience with agentic AI systems, including autonomous agents, planning architectures, or tool-use frameworks
