Staff Product Designer, Design Systems

Vanta's Design Systems team is the foundational layer that powers visual consistency, design quality, and engineering velocity across all of Vanta's product surfaces. The Design Systems team builds and maintains Vanta's shared component library, design tokens, interaction patterns, and documentation — enabling product designers and engineers to ship high-quality, cohesive experiences at scale. As Vanta grows across GRC, Trust, Design Systems, and new product areas, the Design Systems team plays a critical role in maintaining quality, reducing design and engineering debt, and accelerating the entire product organization.

What you’ll do as a Staff Product Designer at Vanta:

• Building and evolving a robust, scalable component library used across every product team

• Establishing and maintaining design tokens, typography, spacing, color systems, and interaction patterns

• Creating and enforcing documentation standards, contribution models, and design governance frameworks

• Partnering with front-end engineering to ensure design-to-code fidelity and maintain a shared component vocabulary

• Driving design system adoption across product teams through education, tooling, and proactive partnership

• Evolving the design system to support accessibility and platform scalability across Vanta's growing product suite

• Deep expertise building and maintaining scalable design systems for complex B2B SaaS products, including component architecture, design tokens, and pattern libraries

• Strong visual design foundation with mastery of typography, color theory, spacing, interaction design, and accessibility principles

• Proven ability to govern and evolve a design system at scale, including defining contribution models, usage guidelines, and quality standards across a multi-team design organization

• Working AI-natively: uses AI tools throughout the design process, and has shipped designs for non-deterministic, AI-powered experiences (chat, agentic modalities, etc).

How to be successful in this role:

• 7+ years of experience as a Product Designer (preferably within Design Systems), with some experience in B2B SaaS or other complex domains

• Experience collaborating closely with front-end engineers to ensure design-to-code fidelity and maintain a shared vocabulary between design and implementation

• Expert-level proficiency in Figma — including variants, auto-layout, and design tokens — with experience publishing and managing shared libraries at scale across a product organization

• Lead the strategy, evolution, and execution of Vanta's design system, ensuring it scales with the needs of a rapidly growing product organization

• Partner with product designers and engineers across all product teams to define, document, and ship new components, patterns, and guidelines

• Establish governance models, contribution frameworks, and quality standards that enable every designer at Vanta to build consistently

• Advocate for accessibility and inclusive design as a foundational requirement throughout all components, patterns, and design documentation
