  • Collaborate closely with the Security team to ensure system security and adherence to regulatory compliance standards.

  • Lead complex technical initiatives and drive organizational improvements across various teams.

  • Provide mentorship to DevOps and Software Engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.

  • Work with engineering leadership to establish technical direction and best practices for infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD.

  • Uphold a high standard for the quality of system architecture and design, while maintaining simplicity.

  • Be available for periodic "on-call" duties during non-working hours, as planned and required by the team.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering, demonstrating increasing scope and impact.

  • Cloud Platforms: Extensive experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including the architecture, deployment, and scaling of complex production systems.

  • DevOps Practices: Proven experience with observability, automation, performance engineering in cloud environments, and Continuous Integration and Delivery.

  • Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for deploying and managing containerized applications, and strong knowledge of GitOps tools such as ArgoCD for Kubernetes deployments.

  • Infrastructure as Code: Familiarity with Crossplane and Terraform for managing infrastructure abstractions.

  • Monitoring: Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.

  • Programming: Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go).

  • Networking & Security: Experience with API Gateway and/or Service Mesh, implementation of Single Sign-On (SSO) for secure access control, and familiarity with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for fine-grained access management.

Professional Attributes:

  • Collaboration: Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.

  • Work Environment: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technical, and mission-focused environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
