About The Role

The evening position as Pricing Staff Accountant in the Variable and Mutual Fund Accounting and Reporting Group is involved in the collection, reconciliation and posting of unit values, share values and fund company distributions. This position will also have a role preparing specific account reconciliations and other pricing related data.  The accountant will take a key role in the collection and analysis of Net Asset Values and distributions from various mutual fund companies.  The hours worked will be from 1PM to 10 PM. The key to success in this position is being proactive, detail oriented, asking questions, learning from both an accounting and reporting perspective and developing credibility and strong relationships with internal departments.  The accountant will also be involved in special projects plus supporting the Variable and Mutual Fund trading and reconciliation functions.  This support could include duties such as daily reconciliations, problem solving specific trouble points and developing new processes.  This job will evolve over the next three months and will probably encompass other duties not listed here.  Strong computer and technical skills are a requirement.

Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Evening Manager of the Variable Accounting and Reporting department.  This position will also interact with various departments within Corebridge Financial.

Become proficient in the use of the systems utilized by the department in the collection of nightly values and distributions and the numerous interfaces and processes required during the nightly pricing process.  Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.

Use SAP and Microsoft Excel to generate monthly reconciliations, trend reports and analysis.  Ask questions and escalate issues when assistance is needed.  Master the use and maintenance of Excel spreadsheets that serve as the source for the majority of the analysis and reporting this position will be performing within the first 6 months of employment.  The candidate must be able to baseline assigned tasks to determine the most efficient path to completion of those tasks.

Quickly develop relationships with various internal and external departments and key contacts.  Meet all reporting deadline due dates and requirements set by corporate management, internal management, external auditors and other outside customers with no errors.  Maintain accurate and well-documented work papers that support all work produced. Complete Ad Hoc projects as requested.

Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role needs to have 1 to 5 years accounting and analysis experience, preferably in a financial reporting environment.  A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.  The candidate should have the ability to analyze data and research accounting and financial issues.  Technical expertise must include strong knowledge of Excel and accounting.  The ability to work in a fast-paced multi-company, multi-systems environment with regular deadlines is important.  Experience working in a mid-to-large company environment is preferred.  Insurance, mutual fund or financial services industry experience is helpful, but not required.
