Job Title: Staff Accountant

Classification: Exempt (Salaried)

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Role Summary:

As an Accountant at our fast-paced fintech startup, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide valuable insights, and support decision-making processes. Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement and present financial reports to management and stakeholders, providing valuable insights and recommendations
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Assist with audit process and month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Maintain and review the accounts payable transactions
  • Help prepare treasury activity on a daily basis
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, tax regulations, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support provide financial guidance and analysis to aid in business planning and strategic decision-making

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 
  • 1-2 years of experience at a public accounting firm (audit or advisory) or alternatively 2 years industry experience as an Accountant, preferably with specific exposure to fintech or technology startups
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP
  • Proficiency in Excel and NetSuite 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience at a public accounting firm (audit or advisory) or alternatively 3+ years industry experience as an Accountant or Staff Accountant
  • Experience with specific database systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Work Environment:

  • The candidate in this position will be primarily located in an office environment and be exposed to lighting, temperature, and noise level conditions typical of that environment
  • This position is primarily in-person, with an expectation of in-person work at the physical office location in Austin, Texas but will be considered for a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in-office)

Salary

  • $70,000-$90,000, DOE
