Role Overview

Ideally, candidates should be very technically inclined and voracious learners that are excited to tackle ambiguous challenges head-on.

The Director of FP&A and Strategic Finance will serve as a critical strategic partner to the CFO and leadership team. This role blends strategic financial planning, advanced analytics, and rigorous modeling with technical execution to enhance forecasting accuracy, investor confidence, and cross-functional decision-making. The right candidate excels in critical thinking, enjoys automating financial processes, and can effectively translate complex financial insights into clear, actionable strategies.

You will directly manage and mentor a small team of analysts while remaining deeply involved in both reviewing and preparing financial models, automation initiatives, and cross-departmental collaboration. Additionally, you will be integral in investor relations and fundraising initiatives, due diligence processes, and external financial communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Modeling: Lead strategic modeling for market expansion, pricing optimization, unit economics, and capital allocation to drive key growth decisions.
  • Financial Modeling & Scenario Analysis: Own and enhance internal financial models, incorporating real-time data and automation to support forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning. Develop and communicate insightful analyses to guide strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting: Create, automate and manage robust, and rolling forecast systems and dashboards in collaboration with departmental stakeholders. Ensure ongoing alignment of financial projections with strategic business objectives.
  • Investor Relations & Reporting: Oversee all investor-related reporting ensuring financial transparency, accuracy, and timeliness. Support fundraising processes through detailed financial modeling, preparation of external-facing financial statements, and proactive engagement in due diligence activities.
  • FP&A Systems Implementation: Play a key role in migrating to advanced FP&A planning tools (e.g., Pigment, Adaptive, Anaplan, Fintastic, Drivetrain), leveraging your experience to support the optimization of architecture and processes for forecasting, reporting, and analytics.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Data, and Product teams to deeply understand business drivers and integrate them into cohesive financial frameworks. Actively contribute to strategic initiatives by delivering data-driven financial perspectives.
  • Process Automation & Improvement: Utilize low/no-code automation tools to streamline data workflows and financial reporting (leveraging Google Sheets and SQL where possible). Continually seek efficiency gains through improved data connectivity, automation, and system integrations.
  • Team Management & Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of analysts, ensuring high-quality outputs, professional growth, and proactive engagement with strategic objectives.
  • Board & Executive Communication: Prepare and present board-level materials and strategic insights clearly and persuasively, providing high-value inputs into executive-level decisions.

    

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, FP&A, or investment banking roles.
  • Exceptional financial modeling and analytical capabilities, including expertise in building automated, scenario-based forecasting models.
  • Experience significantly contributing/leading fundraising processes, investor relations, and/or due diligence activities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets (and Excel), including experience implementing automation via low-code/no-code solutions.
  • Familiarity with GAAP, revenue recognition principles, and financial statement construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.


Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience managing and mentoring analysts or direct reports.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite), data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake), or similar financial data management tools.
  • Familiarity with FP&A and Business Intelligence platforms (e.g., Pigment, Adaptive, Anaplan, Fintastic, Drivetrain).
  • Proven experience scaling financial operations and strategic FP&A capabilities at high-growth technology companies.
  • Demonstrated passion for leveraging technology to automate and optimize financial processes, ideally within highly automated or AI-driven finance environments (exposure to SQL is a plus).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, exhibiting strong ownership, initiative, and comfort with ambiguity and rapid growth.
    $190,000 - $200,000, DOE
