About The Role

Join Observable Space at a pivotal stage of growth and help build the team shaping what’s next in space technology.

We’re looking for a high-energy, data-driven Recruiter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and knows how to turn hiring challenges into results. You’ll partner closely with leaders across Engineering and the business to attract and close exceptional talent while helping us build scalable recruiting practices as we grow.

The best fit is someone who can move fast, dig into the data, build strong relationships, and roll up their sleeves to get things done—while having some fun along the way.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with hiring teams to build and execute effective sourcing, assessment, and closing approaches with an ability to manage candidate / hiring manager expectations through a deep understanding of return on investment.

  • Attract passive candidates and gauge chemistry of candidates for fit and motivation rather than simply sell a role.

  • Build and maintain a network of potential candidates through proactive market research and on-going relationship management; conduct in-depth interviews of potential candidates, demonstrating ability to anticipate hiring manager preferences through high interview-to-offer ratios.

  • Recommend ideas and strategies related to recruitment that will contribute to the long-range growth of the company, implementing new processes and fine-tuning standard mechanisms for recruiting those fits within Serve’s mission to deliver the highest quality experience to our customers.

  • Interview candidates within the framework of the position specification. Screen, interview and prepare an ideal candidate slate within an appropriate and consistent timeline.

  • Participate in special projects/recruiting initiatives including assessment of best practices in interviewing techniques.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full life cycle recruiting experience with a focus on Engineering hiring.

  • 2+ years of business-facing responsibilities working directly with hiring teams to build effective sourcing, assessment, and closing approaches with an ability to manage candidate/business expectations.

  • 3+ years of experience working cross-functionally across the recruiting process, communicating and partnering with multiple stakeholders.

  • 3+ years of experience utilizing recruiting tools for sourcing and candidate/applicant management, e.g. LinkedIn Recruiter, CRM and ATS systems, web search, and other sourcing products.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing technical (software + hardware) startup.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to juggle a lot of competing deadlines and deliver results on time.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
