With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.

Join us leading the charge in powering next-generation semiconductor products. You’ll dive deep into real silicon performance, developing innovative measurement strategies and collaborating across teams to turn data into impactful design improvements. If you’re excited by hands-on problem solving and shaping cutting-edge technology, this is the role for you!

This role is on-site, based out of Toronto, Canada.

We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.

Who You Are

  • You’re driven by the challenge of characterizing and optimizing power in advanced silicon technologies.
  • You’re passionate about understanding how power behaves in real silicon and love digging into data to uncover root causes and optimization opportunities.
  • You have hands-on experience with lab tools and test automation, and you thrive in cross-functional environments where architecture, design, and validation come together.
  • You like connecting simulation models with actual product behavior to help improve designs and ensure quality.

What We Need

  • A technical leader to plan and execute measurement strategies that characterize product power and performance across various scenarios.
  • Someone to develop automated workflows and high-precision measurement infrastructure for accurate power profiling across modes and conditions.
  • A collaborator who partners with design and modeling teams to investigate discrepancies and improve power estimation techniques.
  • A collaborative contributor to help refine pre-silicon estimation tools, characterize power under PVT conditions, and support design margin and product qualification.

What You Will Learn

  • How power behaves in state-of-the-art silicon under real-world operating conditions — and how to drive improvements that impact performance, efficiency, and product success.
  • Techniques for automating complex measurement workflows and correlating data with pre-silicon simulations.
  • How different teams across architecture, design, validation, and systems converge to bring complex silicon to life.
  • How to lead and influence product direction through deep technical insight, data-driven analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.

Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
