Responsibilities of this position include:
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Work closely with the product area director and product area leadership team to translate strategic vision into actionable plans and ensure their effective execution across the organization. As a component, create and implement a growth strategy enabling the business to exceed 3x current revenue to achieve the product line's long-range financial forecast.
- Product Portfolio Management: Manage the overall product portfolio by making strategic decisions on investment priorities, product rationalization, and diversification.
- Operations Management: Oversee all day-to-day operational activities, including product development, supply chain, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer support, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Resource Allocation: Optimize the allocation of resources (human, financial, technological) to meet business goals and maximize return on investment.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration with cross-functional departments (e.g., Operations, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain) to ensure seamless execution of ongoing operations, projects and initiatives.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to operational processes, workflows, and systems to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall business performance. As a component, establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where needed to achieve desired performance levels.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate operational risks, ensuring business continuity and compliance with all relevant industry guidelines.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Education and Industry Experience: Bachelor's degree with a minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within the commercial and/or defense industries, with a deep understanding of its unique regulatory landscape, procurement processes, and technological advancements
- Operational Leadership: Proven track record of success in technology-driven companies, preferably with experience in hardware, software, and systems integration
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, drive organizational change, and achieve measurable results
- Leadership and Management: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision making
- Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving priorities
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with open-standards based hardware and software architectures, as well as application-ready subsystems
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a business or engineering field of study
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with government contracting vehicles and regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS)
- Experience with DoD Commercial contracts (FAR Part 12 and/or GSA)
- Direct work experience covering both commercial and defense market sales
