  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, frontend, and DS, to define technical requirements and ensure smooth integration with other platform components

  • Stay updated on the latest capabilities of Android platforms, cloud technologies, and AI/ML frameworks to enhance our mobile solutions

  • Research and implement new innovations in mobile security as the Android landscape evolves, including popular third-party SDKs and APIs

  • Drive best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines

  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to the overall growth of the mobile engineering team.

Requirements

Technical Expertise

  • Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin for Android development.

  • Deep understanding of Android SDK, AOSP internals, and the Android application lifecycle

  • Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and integrating mobile applications with backend services.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, data warehousing, and SQL

  • Knowledge of basic machine learning concepts such as supervised and unsupervised learning

  • Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.

  • Proficiency in using Android Studio IDE , ADB, emulator etc.

Soft Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Passion for staying current with the latest Android development trends and best practices.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of Android development experience with a proven track record of deploying stable mobile components at scale (1M+ end users)

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with fraud prevention, risk management, or fintech applications.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Contributions to open-source Android projects or relevant work showcased on platforms like GitHub.

  • Knowledge of security best practices for mobile applications.

Benefits
  • Compensation: Competitive salary and equity packages, including a 401k

  • Flexibility: Remote-first culture — work from anywhere

  • Health: 100% Employer covered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with a top tier plan for you and your dependents (US)

  • Balance: Unlimited PTO policy

  • Technical: AI First company; both Co-Founders are engineers at heart; and over 50% of the company is Engineering and Product

  • Culture: Family-Friendly environment; Regular team events and offsites

  • Impact: Making the internet safer by protecting online transactions

If you are passionate about mobile development and excited about solving complex challenges in risk and fraud prevention, we encourage you to apply. Join us in shaping the future of fintech security and innovation at Oscilar.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
