As the AI portfolio grows, Government Program's Product and Experience needs a senior deputy who can represent it at the executive level, contribute to its most advanced and technically complex work, and drive cross-business-unit scaling. This role is a force multiplier. It works closely with the Director on the team's advanced AI and emerging-capability work, serves as the team's senior technical anchor, represents the team in executive forums and extends its reach as the portfolio's footprint grows, and drives the working-level cross-BU engagements that push proven solutions out and bring others' in. It operates at portfolio and enterprise altitude. This role will partner with the Director to operate investment strategy, capital, executive relationships, horizontal strategy, and governance.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as senior deputy to the Director, representing the team's positions and priorities in executive and cross-functional forums and extending the team's presence across a growing set of venues
- Partner with technology teams to advance the team's most complex initiatives, including optimization and emerging AI capabilities, contributing to problem framing, solution design, delivery, and executive defensibility
- Act as one of the team's senior technical anchors... going deepest on hands-on prototyping and solution design for the hardest problems, partnering closely with forward deployed engineers and engineering, and providing the deep technical judgment the team relies on day to day
- Drive cross-business-unit scaling: take proven Government Programs AI solutions to other business units, and identify and adapt solutions from other units for use in Government Programs
- Partner with enterprise AI, other business-unit leaders, and vendors to support horizontal strategy and align on shared capabilities, funding, and governance
- Prepare executive-ready narratives, investment cases, and roadmaps for advanced and cross-cutting initiatives
- Provide senior product and technical judgment across the portfolio, raising the bar on delivery quality
- Ensure advanced initiatives remain compliant with CMS regulations and UnitedHealth Group's Responsible AI framework

Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, analytics, or AI/ML roles, including experience contributing to or leading complex technical initiatives end to end
- Demonstrated ability to operate at the executive level... building investment cases, presenting to senior leadership, and representing a team or function in cross-functional forums
- Solid technical fluency across modern AI and optimization, deep enough to prototype and lead solution design directly and to engage credibly with engineers and vendors, with the ability to translate complexity for executive audiences
- Active, daily user of modern AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot), able to apply them to real work and explain them in plain language
- Working knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid product dynamics, benefit design, and the CMS regulatory landscape
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management across technical, business, and executive audiences, with high emotional intelligence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience scaling solutions across business units or in an enterprise or horizontal capacity
- Familiarity with UnitedHealthcare platforms and ecosystems
- Exposure to optimization, operations research, agentic workflows, or advanced analytics
