Summary:

As a Sr. Product Manager on our SMB team, you will own the core experience of our applicant tracking system for employers, with the opportunity to rethink how it is structured and how it works. You'll drive the strategy and execution behind increasing employer review and response rates on the platform, and you will own the development of our employer mobile app. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Design, and Decision Science to build scalable product experiences that drive more conversations and help employers hire qualified candidates faster. This is one of the areas of the business where we can test and learn the fastest, so you'll have room to ship often and move quickly.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Act as an Owner: Take full accountability for your product domain, from high-level KPI setting to the nuances of daily execution.
  • Reimagine the ATS: Own the core ATS experience and lead the rethink of how it is structured and how it works to improve customer value and product effectiveness.
  • Drive Employer Engagement: Own the metrics for employer review and response rates on the platform, and build the experiences that move them.
  • Launch the Employer Mobile App: Own the development of our employer mobile app, from vision and roadmap through launch and iteration.
  • Run rapid experimentation: You will test frequently and ship a steady stream of product improvements, taking advantage of an area where we can move faster than almost anywhere else in the business.
  • Obsess over your metrics: You will have a deep understanding of the funnels and conversion rates that drive your product area, and you will use data to size opportunities.
  • Voice of the User: Serve as the voice of the SMB customer to the rest of the team, constantly talking to your users, doing product discovery, and conducting user research.
  • Champion AI-Driven Development: Lean into ZipRecruiter's AI-first DNA to build personalized, proactive experiences that act like a personal recruiter for every job seeker.
  • Coordinate Marketplace Fit: Partner closely with job-seeker-side product teams to ensure a healthy, balanced marketplace where employer and seeker actions lead to successful hires.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven Leadership: 5+ years of proven success in product management, with a record of delivering results and experience in roles that touch B2B UX
  • Business Owner Mindset: You operate like a business owner. You take a lofty goal and figure out the best plan to achieve it.
  • Deeply Analytical: You are a data-obsessed problem solver who studies funnels and conversion stats, sizes opportunities with data, and interrogates the "why" behind the numbers.
  • Collaborative and Fast-Moving: You thrive working side by side with design and engineering, and you want to move fast, ship a lot of product improvements, and run rapid experiments.
  • Customer-obsession: You love speaking directly with your users and personally conducting customer discovery and research.
  • Systems Thinking: You balance deep customer empathy with systems thinking, and can see both the individual user's experience and how the whole product fits together.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mobile Product Experience: Previous experience launching or scaling a mobile app.
  • Marketplace Experience:  Previous experience at a two-sided marketplace (e.g., jobs, real estate, rideshare), where your work on one side had to account for outcomes on the other.
  • SMB product experience: Previous experience leading products specifically geared towards SMB customers.

As part of our team you’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive salary
  • Exceptional benefits package
  • Flexible Vacation & Paid Time Off
  • Employer-matched 401(k) plan

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
