About the Role:

As Sr. Manager, Standards & Brand Safety - Advertising, you will lead the day-to-day administration of Tubi’s advertising standards, brand safety controls, and compliance program across its advertising business. You will help ensure advertising is safe, compliant, appropriately categorized, and aligned with advertiser expectations across direct-sold, programmatic, sponsorship, branded content, and other ad-supported experiences.

As part of the Standards & Brand Safety team, you will partner with Sales, Ad Operations, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Content Operations, and Legal to implement clear and consistent advertising standards and brand safety policies. You will provide operational leadership on complex or emerging advertising issues and translate policy requirements into scalable review processes, technical controls, automation, and data-driven monitoring.

The ideal candidate has extensive advertising standards and brand safety experience, deep knowledge of advertising regulation and regulated categories, and a strong understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem. They should understand how programmatic advertising functions across DSPs, SSPs, exchanges, ad servers, verification vendors, and data platforms, and be comfortable using reporting, AI-assisted review tools, and database environments to identify risk, investigate issues, guide policy implementation, and improve enforcement at scale.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the day-to-day administration and implementation of Tubi’s advertising standards and brand safety policies across direct-sold, programmatic, sponsorship, branded content, and other ad-supported experiences.
  • Review and provide guidance on complex or high-risk advertising content to ensure compliance with Tubi policies, applicable laws and regulations, advertiser-category restrictions, platform requirements, and industry standards.
  • Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, Ad Operations, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Content Operations, and Legal to implement advertising standards and resolve legal, commercial, operational, or technical compliance issues.
  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert on advertising standards, digital brand safety, and brand suitability, including regulated categories, advertiser-category risk, contextual adjacency, inventory quality, advertiser exclusions, and enforcement controls.
  • Evaluate and substantiate marketing, scientific, health, financial, political, issue advocacy, charitable, and other advertising claims or supporting data submitted by advertisers.
  • Apply deep knowledge of the programmatic advertising ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, ad servers, private marketplaces, deal IDs, bidstream signals, targeting technologies, creative review, and third-party verification partners, to investigate issues and improve advertising quality and policy enforcement.
  • Provide advertising standards and brand safety guidance for new advertising products, platform features, commercial partnerships, and business initiatives throughout development, testing, and launch.
  • Develop and communicate advertising standards through policies, guidance, training materials, decision frameworks, FAQs, and escalation resources, while supporting consistent decision-making and review quality across operational teams.
  • Leverage reporting dashboards, database environments, AI-assisted workflows, and technical tooling to identify trends, monitor policy enforcement, audit advertising delivery, perform root-cause analysis, and evaluate the effectiveness of operational controls.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to define requirements for scalable brand safety tooling, taxonomy, metadata, advertiser-category mapping, policy automation, AI-assisted creative classification, and operational escalation workflows.
  • Identify policy gaps, emerging advertising risks, and operational challenges; recommend appropriate mitigations and elevate matters requiring additional legal, reputational, commercial, product, or technical review.
  • Monitor developments across streaming, CTV, digital advertising, programmatic technology, AI, privacy, and regulatory policy, including competitive analyses of advertising standards and brand safety practices across major platforms.

Your Background:

  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in advertising standards, brand safety, advertising policy, trust & safety, commercial clearance, or digital advertising compliance, preferably within streaming, CTV, digital video, media, ad tech, or entertainment.
  •  4+ years of experience working with digital or programmatic advertising, ad quality, brand safety, brand suitability, or related advertising operations.
  • Demonstrated experience providing guidance on complex, sensitive, or high-risk advertising matters and working across legal, commercial, operational, product, and technical stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, exchanges, ad servers, verification vendors, campaign trafficking, private marketplaces, bidstream signals, and common programmatic risk points.
  • Experience reviewing advertising creative and substantiating claims for compliance with advertising standards, platform policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of advertising regulations and industry guidelines, including consumer protection, political advertising, issue advocacy, children’s advertising, financial services, healthcare, charitable solicitations, and other regulated categories.
  • Familiarity with FTC, FCC, FDA, CARU, state regulatory frameworks, and advertising self-regulatory organizations; exposure to international advertising standards and regulatory frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience using reporting, business intelligence, database, or workflow tools to investigate issues, identify trends, evaluate controls, and improve operations; experience with Databricks, SQL, dashboards, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Practical understanding of AI-assisted review, moderation, classification, taxonomy, and workflow automation, including their benefits, limitations, validation needs, and quality-control considerations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex policy, legal, operational, and technical issues clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter capable of managing complex work independently, establishing priorities, and appropriately escalating legal, reputational, technical, or commercial risks.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
