Northrop Grumman is hiring a Sr. Manager of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to be located in our El Segundo, CA location.

This position will report to the Director of Financial Reporting and Accounting and will perform and oversee the analysis, preparation and reporting of financial data.

Position responsibilities and duties include:

  • Responsibility for the overall Sector financial reporting and accounting close activities, which includes review of monthly and quarterly financial reporting data and analysis in support of the company’s U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosure requirements

  • Review and approval of journal entries in SAP and HFM, including non-routine transactions

  • Analyze financial data, trends and variances to provide actionable insights to management

  • Evaluate the potential effects on all newly established and/or potential accounting principle changes implemented by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, Securities Exchange Commission, and/or any other financial regulatory entities

  • Interpret generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) accounting standards and SEC guidance to determine the appropriate accounting and financial reporting treatment

  • Draft accounting position papers summarizing technical accounting issues, application of accounting guidance to the company, alternatives available and recommendations

  • Support annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors

  • Lead the Sector’s SOX program, including evaluation of risk environment and adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting

  • Support contract EAC and profitability reviews.  Review and provide guidance on revenue recognition and performance obligation conclusions reached under ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers

  • Provide on-call technical accounting guidance using US GAAP and coordinate research findings and evaluation of alternatives with external auditors

  • Prepare and present technical accounting training on a regular basis

  • Update and maintain accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and other changes

  • Lead, mentor and train staff members

  • Lead or assist with ad-hoc projects, as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must either have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and 15 years of relevant work experience or a masters degree and 12 years of relevant work experience or a PhD and 9 years of relevant work experience

  • Public Accounting/Audit and Assurance directly relevant may count for up to an additional year of experience for each year of relevant experience

  • Big 4 or recognized public accounting firm audit experience (minimum manager level)

  • Excellent understanding of US GAAP with a strong knowledge of SEC reporting regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills

  • Prior experience in Aerospace & Defense industry

 

Primary Level Salary Range: $159,500.00 - $239,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
