Power confident decisions at Cars.com

Cars.com is the marketplace millions of people trust to buy and sell cars with confidence.

More than 25 years ago, we started as a simple idea, connect buyers and sellers, and today we do a lot more: trusted reviews, transparent pricing, and real-time, proprietary data that cut through the noise of one of life's biggest purchases. Our scaled marketplace, paired with interconnected technology, data, and media, gives dealers and OEMs everything they need to sell more cars.

At Cars.com, we debate openly, decide fast, and deliver what we say we will. We solve real problems for car shoppers and dealers, simplify for speed, and focus on what matters most. We win together or not at all. Here, your work counts, your ideas can help shape what’s next, and you’ll build alongside people who have your back.

We’re in the middle of a real transformation, modernizing the company and investing in AI and data to move faster. You're joining the No. 1 brand people think of first when shopping for a car, at the exact moment it's being rebuilt for what's next. You help decide what that becomes. That kind of influence is rare, and it's exactly why this is a place worth building your career.

Don't just take our word for it, we're proud to be named one of Built In's 2026 Best Places to Work in Chicago and across the U.S.

Ready to help build the most trusted place to buy and sell a car? Join us.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Sr. Manager, Enterprise Applications to own our finance and ERP platform and partner with Finance on all of the tools they rely on, while the platform’s future is still being decided. PeopleSoft Financials just completed an upgrade. The path to Oracle Fusion, including which modules move, in what phases, and with which vendors, is not set. You will help decide that plan and then own it.

You will also own the audit posture of our financial systems, lead a small core team and a managed service provider (MSP), and partner with Finance and HR leadership on direction. Near-term work includes replacing our tax platform and adding Canada multicurrency. You own the technical architecture, integrations, and controls across the portfolio, including HCM and Workday, and partner with Finance and HR leaders on business process and priorities.

What You’ll Do

Finance & ERP Platform Ownership

  • Own the platform end to end, from requirements through go-live and production support, including quarter end and year end.
  • Define the future state of PeopleSoft and lead the evaluation of a move to Oracle Fusion: which modules, what phases, which vendors, weighed against cost, risk, and the effect on Finance. Challenge the premise when the case is weak.
  • Lead the tax platform replacement and Canada multicurrency, and deliver regulatory changes such as annual 1099 updates.
  • Work as a peer to Finance leadership. Bring recommendations and options, and say no with reasons when needed.
  • Partner with Finance on every tool the team uses, including expense management, reporting and analytics, tax, banking, and close tooling, and own the technical architecture, integrations, and controls behind them.

Controls & Audit

  • Own SOX and IT general controls for the financial systems: change approval, production migration, quarterly access reviews, segregation of duties, and audit evidence.
  • Work directly with internal and external auditors, and own remediation of any findings.
  • Oversee security architecture, role-based access, and identity governance for core platforms. Partner with security and infrastructure on disaster recovery and continuity.

Team, Vendors & Delivery

  • Lead a small core team and an MSP of roughly 6 to 8 resources covering DBA and PeopleSoft depth. Give product owners and application owners real ownership of their domains while staying accountable for results.
  • Hold the MSP accountable with facts: SLAs, escalation, release quality, and knowledge transfer.
  • Run a blended onshore and offshore model for well-scoped work. Keep business-facing and compliance-sensitive work onshore.
  • Move the team from spreadsheet-based prioritization to sprint-based planning, with clear and shared criteria for competing requests from Accounting, Tax, and Finance leadership.
  • Stay hands-on about 25% of the time, enough to review designs, troubleshoot incidents, and challenge the MSP technically.
  • Manage license and vendor spend across the portfolio.

Integrations & Workday

  • Own integration architecture across ERP, HCM, tax, banking, and adjacent systems. Keep integrations documented, monitored, and resilient.
  • Own the technical architecture, integrations, and SOX controls for Workday and HCM, partnering with HR on functional configuration and roadmap.
  • Own triage and escalation for anything that touches integrations, access, or technical configuration across Finance and HR platforms.

AI & Automation

  • Help define where AI and automation fit across ERP and finance workflows, and keep human review where audit requires it.
  • Use AI tooling in how the team works day to day, and look for manual work that Finance and HR can hand off.

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

  • 8+ years managing enterprise business applications, with direct technical ownership of an ERP or finance platform (PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar).
  • 3+ years managing people and vendors, including an MSP or offshore team, and staying accountable for results.
  • Working knowledge of SOX and IT general controls, and experience handling an audit.
  • Fluency in finance processes such as AP, GL, tax, expense, and close, and the tools that support them.
  • Built an application roadmap before (ideally including a major platform transition), and owned both intake and delivery for enterprise systems.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders in both directions: prioritizing their requests, and taking their ideas about platform direction seriously.
  • Experience partnering with business platform owners on functional configuration while owning technical, integration, and control responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or similar, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Experience

  • PeopleSoft Financials or Oracle Fusion, and working knowledge of Workday and related integrations.
  • A tax engine replacement or multicurrency implementation.
  • Sprint or agile delivery for enterprise systems, and practical use of AI or automation inside or around an ERP.
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed org with reporting relationships that aren’t always tidy.

Who You Are

  • An owner. You make decisions, stay accountable for outcomes, and can tell us specifically what you did.
  • A peer to Finance. You bring a point of view instead of waiting for direction.
  • Curious and hungry. You hold a multi-year view of the portfolio while knowing what’s happening this sprint.
  • Collaborative. You’d rather work through a disagreement than around it, and ask “could this be automated” before “should we hire for it.”

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
