Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

Thermo Fisher Scientific – Digital Solutions develops scalable digital and data capabilities that connect customer needs, business priorities, and technology delivery. This role partners across product, engineering, data, and business teams to deliver trusted solutions and measurable value.

Your Role in that Mission:

The Sr. Manager, Digital Product Solutions serves as a customer-facing link between customers, the IT organization, and engineering teams. The role leads customer discovery to understand business objectives, workflows, challenges, and product needs, then translates those insights into clear, actionable product and technical requirements. This role maintains and prioritizes a structured product backlog, identifies recurring needs across customers and market segments, and partners with IT and engineering leaders to deliver scalable capabilities that create measurable customer and business value.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Discovery & Product Definition

·   Build trusted customer relationships and lead discovery sessions, workshops, interviews, and workflow reviews to understand goals, pain points, business processes, and desired outcomes.

·   Distinguish underlying customer needs from requested features and translate them into business requirements, use cases, functional and technical specifications, user stories, data/integration requirements, and acceptance criteria.

·   Validate requirements and proposed solutions with customers and technical teams, resolving ambiguity throughout design and development while avoiding unnecessary one-off customization.

Backlog & Roadmap Management

·      Create, maintain, and continuously refine a structured backlog of customer and product requirements.

·      Synthesize requests across customers, industries, use cases, and segments; identify common themes and reusable solutions.

·      Prioritize requirements using customer impact, strategic alignment, revenue potential, urgency, effort, risk, and applicability, and partner with product leadership and engineering to incorporate priorities into roadmaps and release plans.

·      Communicate priorities, tradeoffs, dependencies, and expected timelines clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Customer & Market Insights

·      Analyze customer feedback and usage patterns to identify recurring problems, unmet needs, emerging opportunities, and differences across customer segments.

·      Share structured customer insights with IT, engineering, sales, customer success, implementation, and leadership teams to inform product strategy and planning.

·      Combine direct customer feedback with business priorities, product vision, and technical considerations to shape scalable product capabilities.

Cross-Functional Delivery & Enablement

·      Partner with engineering, IT, customer experience, security, data, and commercial, global client services, to assess feasibility, dependencies, risks, and implementation options.

·      Serve as the product representative in strategic customer discussions, roadmap reviews, and solution-design sessions, facilitating alignment when requirements or priorities conflict.

·      Support product launches through documentation, enablement materials, release communications, and customer-facing presentations, ensuring capabilities and limitations are represented accurately.

As Demonstrated By:

·      Customer empathy and consultative communication with strong stakeholder-management and facilitation skills.

·      Structured requirements analysis, systems/process thinking, and technical aptitude.

·      Product judgment, commercial awareness, and evidence-based prioritization in environments with competing priorities.

·      Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive-level communication skills.

·      Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence cross-functionally, and translate between business and technical audiences.

Key Requirements:

Education:

·         Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

·         Advanced degree or relevant product/Agile certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing product, solutions, business analysis, product ownership, or technical consulting role.
  • Experience conducting customer discovery and translating business needs into functional requirements, technical specifications, user stories, data/integration requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience creating, refining, and prioritizing product backlogs and synthesizing feedback across multiple customers or segments.
  • Sufficient technical fluency to work effectively with software engineers, architects, data teams, and integration specialists.
  • Experience with enterprise customers, enterprise software/SaaS, APIs, integrations, data products, workflow automation, Agile methods, or product-management tools preferred.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
