Sr Manager, Content Planning

The Content Strategy and Acquisitions team within the Global TV distribution organization at Sony Pictures has an opening for a Director. The team works across SPE’s content partners and global sales organization to maximize the value of content throughout its lifecycle. 

The Sr. Manager will be primarily responsible for managing our partnership with Crunchyroll, which includes supporting content licensing deals in markets around the world and aligning with Crunchyroll’s business development team to grow distribution partnerships for their DTC service. This involves close coordination with cross-functional teams at SPE, as well as, working closely with Crunchyroll to align global sales needs with Crunchyroll’s long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Annual product planning in partnership with Crunchyroll’s content distribution and business development teams
  • Manage leads and opportunities for content licensing between SPE and Crunchyroll
  • Identify strategic and operational roadblocks to closing deals and work with relevant SPE/CR departments to ensure timely resolution
  • Create strategy for distributing simulcast Crunchyroll product by market including vetting leads, assessing value of the content, and securing approval to avail new product from Crunchyroll content distribution team
  • Develop and continuously improve content valuation tools to support sales and sales planning teams with Anime to maximize licensing value
  • Improve sales readiness by working with Global Insights team to enhance SPE’s pitch to clients on Anime
  • Lead quarterly Crunchyroll content call highlighting new content, drafting opportunities, and best practices from other markets
  • Lead semi-annual business review meetings with Crunchyroll Content Licensing & Business Development teams
  • Create KPIs for Crunchyroll content licensing and distribution to measure effectiveness of SPE efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
  • 6-8 years of experience, preferably in entertainment
  • Strong passion for and familiarity with Anime
  • Experience working with international markets and regional content sensibilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and maintain strong relationships with teams around the world

The anticipated base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
