As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

About the Role:

We're building the next generation technologies that will power CrowdStrike for the next ten years — and we need a leader who can help us build the team that builds them. As Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering, you'll join a fast-moving, early-stage team taking a blank-slate approach to scaling our systems and using AI to stop breaches.

This is not a purely people management role. You'll be deeply embedded in the technical work — leading code reviews, driving architecture discussions and owning operational readiness — while simultaneously expanding and developing a growing engineering team.

Note: This is a hybrid role based out of our offices in Redmond, WA, Sunnyvale, CA, Austin, TX, or NYC with an expectation of being in the office at least 2 days per week.

What You'll Do:

  • Step into an early-stage team that is partly in place and help shape, grow and scale

  • Lead code reviews, architecture discussions and operational readiness reviews

  • Define and drive the technical direction for significant components of our next-generation cloud architecture, collaborating with our most senior technologists

  • Partner closely with desktop agent and AI teams

  • Own and deliver large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects — from technical and architecture planning through to execution and accountability

  • Champion continuous improvement through design reviews, post-mortems and engineering best practices

  • Hire, develop and retain exceptional engineers

  • Foster a culture that mirrors the best engineering traits: comfort with ambiguity, propensity to action and strong cross-team collaboration

What You'll Need:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years of experience managing engineers, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams

  • Hands-on experience building and operating high-volume, highly resilient Tier-1 cloud services and systems

  • Strong knowledge of Go, Java or similar technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to own and deliver large, complex engineering projects across multiple teams and stakeholders

  • Proven ability to operate with ambiguity and make sound technical decisions with limited information

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for what your team builds and ships

  • Experience driving technical decisions and alignment across groups with competing priorities

  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas in writing and verbally

Bonus Points:

  • Experience managing machine learning (ML) or data engineering teams

  • Experience scaling and developing an early-stage engineering team, building on an existing foundation rather than starting from zero

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
