We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Corporate FP&A team, reporting directly to the Senior Director of FP&A. This role sits at the center of how Twist plans and reports. You will build the models and reports that run our monthly close and forecast cycles, pull together inputs from across the business, and turn them into clear read-outs for the FP&A team, business leaders, and the CFO. The work spans all three financial statements, not just the P&L. You’ll also help us find practical ways to use AI to make the team faster and our analysis sharper.

You will also be the team’s OneStream power user, owning the system and leading how we improve it. It is a high-visibility seat with broad exposure to how the company plans, reports, and makes decisions as we scale.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build: models, reports, and systems
    • Own production of the corporate close and forecast cycle, including scenario setup, allocations, consolidation, and the reporting package
    • Serve as the team's OneStream power user, keeping the system reliable and the team productive
    • Build the reporting infrastructure the team uses to review and challenge rolling forecast inputs from the business
    • Standardize close and forecast read-outs for the FP&A team, business leaders, and the CFO, and support ELT and Board reporting materials
    • Build and maintain three-statement financial models, tied out and review-ready before they reach leadership
    • Lead continuous improvement of our tools and processes: turn feedback from the team's monthly post-mortems into a prioritized roadmap, and deliver the changes
  • Synthesize: inputs and signals into insight
    • Turn forecasts and actuals into clear analysis of variances, risks, and trends against plan
    • Support quarterly earnings preparation and benchmarking analysis
    • Present findings directly to business partners and senior finance leadership, including the CFO
    • Support ad hoc analysis as needed

Who We’re Looking For

You lead with business judgment, built on a strong grasp of financial principles. You understand how FP&A partners with the business to drive growth, and you think like an owner: every forecast, model, and recommendation should help the company put its resources where they create the most long-term value. You're curious about how the business works, humble, coachable, and motivated to grow. You don't need to be a systems expert on day one, but you should understand how data flows from source systems into a model. If you bring the financial foundation, the drive, and the humility, we'll teach you the tools and the business.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling
  • Strong understanding of all three financial statements and how they connect
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to speed up analysis, modeling, or reporting, and curiosity about where else they can help
  • Understanding of how data flows between ERP, planning systems, and financial models
  • Ability to synthesize information from many sources and explain what it means to finance and non-finance audiences, including senior leadership
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to partner across teams to deliver results
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to manage projects and implement new business planning processes
  • Onsite Work Requirement - Location: South San Francisco

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with OneStream or another planning / EPM system
  • CPA or MBA
  • Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Biotech or manufacturing industry experience

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
