ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Executive Compensation expert to own and drive our executive compensation and equity programs end-to-end. Reporting to the GVP of Total Rewards, this role sits at the center of our most consequential rewards decisions — from developing our Compensation Committee strategy to designing the equity programs that attract and retain top executive talent. You will be a trusted advisor, analyst, and a hands-on operator who thrives in a fast-moving environment.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Compensation Committee Leadership

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of Compensation Committee materials to executive staff in close partnership with the GVP of Total Rewards.

  • Own the narrative, analysis, and design of all executive pay materials from first draft through final presentation.

  • Ensure decks are analytically rigorous, visually clear, and defensible to a board audience.

Executive Compensation Program Ownership

  • Drive the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of executive compensation programs globally.

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on pay philosophy, market competitiveness, and program effectiveness.

  • Proactively identify gaps and opportunities and bring forward recommendations with supporting analysis.

Market Analysis & External Partnership

  • Lead market benchmarking efforts in collaboration with our executive compensation consulting firm.

  • Manage the external consulting relationship — set scope, direct analysis, and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Monitor market trends and peer practices to ensure our programs remain competitive and aligned with business strategy.

Equity Strategy & Plan Design

  • Lead our equity strategy — analyze current program effectiveness and make recommendations on plan design, grant practices, and equity mix.

  • Model equity plan scenarios and assess dilution, share pool utilization, and competitive positioning.

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and Stock Administration to ensure programs are operationally sound and compliant.

Financial Modeling & Analytical Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain executive compensation and equity models that support planning, forecasting, and decision-making.

  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools that surface real-time program insights to HR and business leadership.

  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and scalability of all compensation data and processes.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Compensation Committee materials are delivered on time, with sharp analysis and a clear point of view.

  • Our executive pay programs are competitive, clearly understood by stakeholders, and aligned to business outcomes.

  • Equity strategy recommendations are data-driven and adopted, with measurable improvements to program design and utilization.

  • Market analysis is proactive — insights are surfaced before we need them, not just in response to requests.

  • Operational processes are documented, scalable, and do not require heroics to execute each cycle.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 10+ years of experience in Compensation, with at least 5 years focused on executive compensation and equity program design and delivery.

  • Proven track record presenting to or preparing materials for Compensation Committees or senior leadership.

  • Experience managing relationships with external compensation consultants and driving deliverables.

  • Expert-level financial modeling skills; able to build complex equity and compensation models from scratch.

  • Strong executive presence — you can hold your own with the C-suite and translate data into business language.

  • Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail; you catch what others miss.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity.

  • Excellent project and time management skills; you can run multiple workstreams simultaneously in a high paced environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
