Job Description

Fabletics is looking for a Senior Director, Technical Design – Women’s.

How do you fit in?

The Senior Director, Technical Design will lead and inspire the Women’s Technical Design team, driving innovative design solutions and ensuring the highest quality standards across all projects. This role requires a visionary leader who can integrate technical expertise with strategic planning to align design initiatives with organizational goals. You will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind who understands the brand aesthetic and price point of Fabletics. You will join a team of passionate and energetic individuals working towards our vision to be the world’s most fashionable, innovative and inclusive active-lifestyle brand

You will report to the Vice President, Design and partner closely with Design, Product Development, Production and Merchandising.

What you will do:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technical design strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of technical designers, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure design strategies support product development and business goals.
  • Act as a liaison between design, production, and product management teams to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Facilitate sampling process of apparel styles from design concept / first prototype to a final, production-ready sample offering solutions to correct fit and construction details for challenging styles when needed

Innovation and Quality Assurance:

  • Drive innovation in design processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance standards to ensure all design outputs meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Lead the creation of block library of patterns to maintain fit consistency within product categories

Project Oversight:

  • Oversee multiple technical design projects, ensuring timely delivery while managing resources effectively.
  • Assess project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.

Market Analysis and Trends:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform design strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in design offerings.
  • Stay current on industry innovations in rapid prototyping and sampling including but not limited to 3D prototyping and rendering

What you can bring:

  • 12+ years of experience in technical design, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale design projects and teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Previous experience with Active, Lifestyle, Swim, Seamless and Lounge and a strong background working with performance and lifestyle knit fabrics
  • Interpret design intent and create alternative solutions
  • Draping and flat patternmaking skills
  • Exceptional knowledge and eye for fit, garment construction, and finishing
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and work in fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Knowledge of PLM, Excel, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Outlook and Gerber is a plus

Where we are:

  • This role will be based at our HQ in El Segundo, CA, 3 days per week.

   

The annual base salary range for this position is from $160,000-$220,000. The range provided includes the base salary that Fabletics expects to pay for the role. Offered base salary will be dependent on factors including the scope and complexity of the role, candidate’s related work experience, subject matter expertise and work location.
