Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic manufacturing leader to oversee operations at Medline’s reprocessing facility in Redmond, Oregon — a unique and highly visible operation responsible for giving used medical devices a second life through a full-cycle manufacturing and sterilization process.
This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced production environments and enjoys balancing day-to-day operational execution with long-term process improvement and automation strategy. The facility processes millions of devices annually across a highly diverse SKU portfolio, supporting both sterile and non-sterile products in a labor-intensive manufacturing environment.
The Director of Manufacturing Operations will lead a multi-shift operation and partner closely with Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to improve throughput, drive operational rigor, enhance training and compliance programs, and support the site’s future growth strategy.
This is a highly influential leadership role during an exciting period of transition and modernization for the facility, with the opportunity to bring fresh perspective, strengthen operational discipline, and help shape the next phase of growth and scalability for the site.

Job Description

  • Direct day-to-day manufacturing and production operations across a complex, high-SKU medical device reprocessing environment
  • Lead and develop supervisors, production leadership, and operations teams while fostering a strong culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Partner closely with Engineering and R&D teams to support automation initiatives, capital projects, process improvements, and new product development timelines
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives focused on efficiency, throughput, training effectiveness, quality, and process standardization
  • Ensure compliance with FDA expectations, SOP adherence, training documentation, safety requirements, and quality standards
  • Support long-term operational planning related to capacity, workflow optimization, and facility scalability
  • Monitor key operational metrics and help evolve reporting and performance measurement processes to support continued business growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve customer concerns, improve service levels, and maintain strong operational execution
  • Serve as a visible site leader, including supporting customer visits and facility tours
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
  • 12+ years of experience within manufacturing, production, or operations environments
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams in complex operational settings
  • Experience within regulated manufacturing environments preferred (medical device, healthcare, pharma, aerospace, or similar highly process-driven industries)
  • Strong background in operations leadership, continuous improvement, production metrics, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience partnering with Engineering and/or R&D teams on process improvements, automation initiatives, or capital projects strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead through change, build credibility with tenured teams, and drive operational improvements in evolving environments
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and tactically within a hands-on production environment
Additional Information
  • This role is based onsite in Redmond, Oregon
  • Travel up to 20% may be required, including occasional travel to Anaheim, CA and corporate locations
  • The facility operates across multiple shifts, including day, swing, and weekend operations

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
