We are looking for an SEO Specialist to join Crunchyroll's Audience Development team on a 6-month contract. You will work at the intersection of Editorial SEO and YouTube optimization – helping us grow Crunchyroll's reach across search and one of the world's largest video platforms.
You will be hands-on and execution-focused. Think: metadata optimization, keyword research, playlist optimization, content refreshes, data pulls, and the kind of careful, detail-oriented work that quietly makes a huge difference in how audiences discover anime. If you love digging into data, experimenting with what works, and actually seeing the results of your efforts – this is for you.
In the role of SEO Manager, you will report to the Global Audience Development SEO Manager.
We are considering applicants for the location of US Remote.
Core Areas of ResponsibilityEditorial SEO- Research keywords and search trends to inform content strategy.
- Optimize on-page metadata (titles, descriptions, tags, and structured data) for Crunchyroll News evergreen articles.
- Conduct content audits and refresh editorial pages to improve search rankings.
- Support technical SEO implementations across Audience Development.
- Track keyword rankings, traffic shifts, and content performance in Google Search Console and Ahrefs.
- Help with data entry and reporting across SEO tools and internal trackers.
- Optimize YouTube video metadata: titles, descriptions, and chapters.
- Audit, organize, and optimize playlists for discoverability and watch-time improvements.
- Research YouTube search trends to recommend metadata improvements across channels.
- Support A/B testing initiatives and track results.
- Help maintain consistency and quality across international channel metadata.
- Pull performance data from YouTube Analytics, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs.
- Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets and internal dashboards.
- Compile competitive research on how other anime and entertainment channels approach SEO.
- Flag trends, opportunities, and anomalies to the SEO Manager.

- 3+ years of experience with SEO.
- Experience with SEO implementation, including implementing process/structural changes based on data and user behavior.
- Experience with analytics tools like Google Search Console, YouTube Studio, Clearscope, and Ahrefs.
- Experience with YouTube optimization.
- Familiarity with how to optimize for AI overviews or generative optimization.
- Experience with A/B testing.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of anime culture and its importance to the broader community, and you're driven to innovate in this space.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent hands-on experience in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with social media platform algorithms (TikTok), traffic sources, and search behavior.
- Experience with content management systems (i.e. Storyblok).
- Knowledge of structured data/schema markup, including experience with Databricks.
- Experience with Mixpanel, Tableau, or other analytics platforms.
- Experience in media, entertainment, or fan communities.
