As a Senior Director of Software Engineering within Infrastructure Platforms, you will lead multiple engineering organizations responsible for delivering highly scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions. You will define organizational strategy, drive execution across complex technology domains, and foster engineering excellence through innovation, modernization, and adoption of emerging technologies. Your leadership will influence technical direction across multiple teams while enabling the firm to remain at the forefront of industry best practices and technological advancement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple software engineering organizations and collaborate across technology domains to deliver strategic business and technology outcomes.
  • Establish and execute engineering strategies that drive scalability, resiliency, security, operational excellence, and developer productivity across a large portfolio of applications and platforms.
  • Define and scale engineering best practices, software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards, and technology modernization initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures, automation, observability, resiliency engineering, and engineering efficiency practices.
  • Lead the implementation of AI-enabled engineering capabilities and SDLC automation utilizing enterprise-approved tools, with a focus on quality, productivity, governance, and risk management.
  • Establish engineering guardrails and governance frameworks that ensure secure, resilient, compliant, and traceable software delivery practices.
  • Partner with product, architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, risk, and business stakeholders to deliver complex technology initiatives.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to managers and engineering teams supporting multiple products, platforms, and technology functions.
  • Manage multiple stakeholders and large-scale, cross-functional programs while balancing strategic priorities and operational execution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and technology leaders, influencing business and technology decisions across the organization.
  • Develop and execute organizational objectives with accountability for technology outcomes, talent strategy, financial management, and operational performance.
  • Lead workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee development, succession planning, and performance management across engineering organizations.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, inclusion, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technology organizations and managing complex technical challenges within a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, geographically distributed, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Deep expertise in software engineering principles, modern application architecture, distributed systems, and software delivery practices.
  • Experience driving software engineering transformation initiatives, including modernization, automation, cloud adoption, and developer productivity improvements.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices and software development automation utilizing approved enterprise technologies.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering risk management, resiliency, security, controls, and governance within highly regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated success influencing across highly matrixed organizations and delivering measurable outcomes at scale.
  • Experience leading complex technology programs involving application design, development, testing, deployment, and operational stability.
  • Extensive experience hiring, developing, mentoring, and retaining top engineering talent.
  • Practical experience with cloud-native architecture, platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, site reliability engineering, and modern software delivery frameworks.
  • Experience managing budgets, organizational planning, and vendor relationships.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience within the banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience leading large-scale technology transformation initiatives across global organizations.
  • Knowledge of platform engineering, developer experience, AI-assisted software development, and emerging engineering productivity technologies.
  • Experience building and operating high-availability, mission-critical platforms serving global customers.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, technology governance, and modernization strategies.
