As part of Gartner’s High Tech Group, you will be a strategic business advisor who understands the telecommunications business and has the experience and capability to work with senior telecommunication executives as they implement artificial intelligence to transform- and position their businesses for the future. The telecommunications Industry strategic business advisor is a senior analyst role that services the C-level at telecommunications firms with the business technology insight they need to make business critical decisions that impact the future of their firms. This role includes impactful interactions with industry leaders and would meet with clients daily, via virtual meetings, face-to-face interactions at Gartner events, or at sales support visits. To support these conversations, you will analyze telecommunications businesses, and enterprise buying behaviors as well as produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Be confident and very comfortable understanding and then advising the most senior telecommunications company executives on market dynamics, critical actions to pursue, AI implementation, strategic go-to-market plans, and growth opportunities to capture.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to clients on AI empowered telecommunications industry product portfolio management strategies and growth opportunities.
  • Advise telecommunications clients how to optimize product lifecycle management and the ability to develop and implement product roadmap strategies.
  • Advise telecommunications leaders on pricing strategies, including market analysis, competitive pricing, and pricing optimization techniques.
  • Explain telecommunications customer buying journey and the ability to create and implement effective sales enablement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate telecommunications industry thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts.
  • Write high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” documents about the telecommunications industry.
  • Proactively work with the wider Gartner sales organization and service partners to drive proactive engagement and help telecommunications clients/prospects make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business.
  • Create and deliver high value presentations and other materials at Gartner conferences, and in small groups of clients and/or prospects.
  • Lead or participate in research community meetings to discuss research issues and collaborate effectively with peers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant field or industry experience at senior business levels working for telecommunications firms or in telecommunications business consulting.
  • Proven track record in guiding companies through transformational change as a business leader or consultant.
  • Business acumen: You understand, at a detail level, the business and financial implications of different strategies and approaches and you bring this context to your research and advice.
  • Credibility with senior leadership: You know how to build trusted, value-added relationships with executives leveraging your experience and expertise. You know how to meet executives “where they are.”
  • Critical thinking/analytical skill: You are trained in taking a disciplined, analytical approach to complex market and business issues and you know how to simplify complex problems so they can be solved.
  • Be a confident, experienced leader and presenter with telecommunications gravitas who is capable of quickly earning the respect of senior telecommunications industry executives.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, including revenue, profit margins, and return on investment, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions to inform product portfolio decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player, supporting the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality material.
  • Strong written and verbal interaction, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance issues in the telecommunications industry, including data privacy and security regulations.
  • Ability to travel for face-to-face meetings as necessary, mainly in the US, but also globally.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 172,000 USD - 202,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates. We also offer market leading benefit programs including generous PTO, a 401k match up to $7,200 per year, the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount, and more.
