About the Job:

Helps elevate to the next level by developing strategic thinking and skills to motivate staff.   This role oversees additional areas while balancing existing design responsibilities.  Seeking an experienced design leader with deep expertise in the Tops category across both soft wovens and cut-and-sew knits, combined with a proven track record of managing and overseeing additional product categories including soft wovens and cut and sew knits. This role is responsible for driving the creative vision across multiple product categories while balancing strategic leadership with hands-on design execution.

Partners closely with the VP of Design to develop seasonal concepts, color palettes, print, pattern, fabric, and trim direction, ensuring a cohesive brand aesthetic across all categories. Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing design team, fostering creativity while maintaining accountability for business objectives, seasonal calendars, and product deadlines.

Oversees the design process from concept through final execution, establishing product standards that deliver innovation, commercial success, and brand integrity. Collaborates cross-functionally with Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design to ensure product quality, fit, construction, timing, and profitability. Continuously evaluates market trends and the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.


A day in the life, what you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the design strategy for the business, including soft wovens and cut-and-sew knits, while overseeing several product categories.
  • Partner with the VP of Design to establish seasonal concepts, color direction, print and pattern, fabric, trim, and silhouette strategies.
  • Design products from concept through production, ensuring creative excellence while meeting all seasonal calendar milestones.
  • Mentor, develop, and inspire design talent, cultivating a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Shop domestic and international markets to identify emerging trends, fabrics, trims, and new product opportunities that strengthen brand positioning.
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design to ensure garment fit, construction, quality, costing, and calendar execution.
  • Maintain a cohesive design vision across all owned categories while ensuring commercial relevance and trend leadership.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape to identify whitespace opportunities and drive product innovation.
  • Uphold strong communication and cross-functional collaboration to deliver exceptional product and business results.

What it takes to Join:

  • 8+ years of apparel design experience, with significant expertise in Tops across soft woven and cut-and-sew knit categories.
  • Proven experience managing and overseeing multiple trend-forward product categories while leading design teams.
  • Strong leadership experience mentoring and developing designers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of garment construction, fit, patternmaking, textiles, washes, embellishments, trims, and finishing techniques.
  • Extensive experience in fabric sourcing, trim development, color development, and seasonal concept creation.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, consumer insights, and competitive positioning.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, and PDM/PLM systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.

Salary Range: $102,000 - $120,000

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
  • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
  • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.
  • Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel may be required.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:


This is a full-time position. As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
