The Casting (HPDC & Iron) Cost Engineer is responsible to generate bottom-up cost modeling for Cast components within Magna Powertrain. Analysis of supplier cost breakdowns for purchased parts. The Casting (HPDC & Iron) Cost Engineer should also support cross functional cost down workshops. Support the Target Costing group, Benchmark team and target/benchmark activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Determine / analyze manufacturing processes; estimate required labor, overhead and tooling requirements as needed.
- Review supplier component quotes and negotiate with suppliers as required. With analysis shared with Purchasing and core project teams.
- Develop and maintain product cost database.
- Prepare presentation material as required to support New Business Pursuit activities.
- Work closely with Program Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, Finance, and various forms of management groups.
- Flexibility for Special assignments/Projects
- Ability to interface with various Suppliers and Customers to explain Magna cost positions
- Assist in customer cost audits
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Equivalent Industry Experience preferred
- Knowledge in activity-based costing.
- Demonstrable skills in HPDC and Cast Iron manufacturing and machining.
- Able to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio or similar programs.
- Must be able to communicate in English (written and verbal).
- Must be able to work in a team environment .
- Understanding and knowledge of mechanical drawings and GD&T.
- High attention to detail and ownereship of tasks
- Prefer seven (7) years of experience in an automotive manufacturing company performing Casting and machining activities.
