About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate cybersecurity professional to support our strategic competitive endeavors.  This role will function as the strategic lead within CrowdStrike, responsible for understanding and developing competitive analysis for CrowdStrike’s platform.

In this role you will be directly responsible for driving competitive field facing strategy, and working with our product teams to guide roadmap decisions by developing a deep, nuanced understanding of the technical capabilities needed to succeed in the market, primary GTM strategy/tactics, as well as where CrowdStrike wins or loses. You will partner with senior leaders across Product Groups, Sales, Enablement, and Marketing to achieve these objectives and scale to a global level.

This role requires deep technical knowledge in cyber security platforms, and a functional understanding of actual real-world deployments, extended use-cases, and customer motivations.  The ultimate goal is to uncover new opportunities, strategies and tactics to enable CrowdStrike to win at scale.

What You'll Do:

  • You will be required to synthesize and formulate guidance from a variety of information levels and sources (technical, business, field, external) and regularly present key takeaways to the field and to senior leadership

  • Provide a field-actionable, in-depth, and ever-evolving understanding and analysis of competitive dynamics, relative to CrowdStrike solutions and capabilities

  • Function as the company’s strategic advisor on this market, and become the “de facto” subject matter expert on the market for all business units and functions

  • Provide tailored deal support (opportunity assessments & guidance), and develop a deep rapport with the field

  • You will work closely multiple teams within CrowdStrike, including key stakeholders (Office of the CTO, field leadership, sales ops, product, and marketing teams), functioning as a primary liaison for cross-functional corporate initiatives relating to increasing market share including direct development of competitive support material and competitive readiness plans.

  • Make recommendations on sales tactics and product strategy to enable CrowdStrike to win in the market.

  • Will be expected to be a self-starter with an ownership mentality.  You will work autonomously in the development of project plans, requirements, timelines, content, and ongoing tracking/updates of the competition. You will leverage executive sponsorship to collaborate cross-functionally across the entire company to execute your programs and drive success.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Cyber Security market with heavy emphasis on endpoint security

  • Must have some field-relevant experience in endpoint or cloud security

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience (Ideal candidates will have experience in at least TWO of the following):  sales engineer/pre-sales, field-facing competitive intelligence, solution architect, sales operations, product management, technical marketing, professional services

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into field actionable guidance and executive summaries.

  • Superior communication skills including experience presenting to senior & executive level management

  • Excellent people and project management skills to manage projects and interact/build rapport with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties

  • Deep understanding of customer motivations, pain points, and how to influence

Bonus Points:

  • Direct experience with customers (as a customer, or in a customer support or field role)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
