The Controls Systems (CS) Environmental Control Systems (ECS) organization has an immediate need for a System Engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to work on various Air Transport, Regional, Business and Military aircraft. 

As a Senior Advanced System Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating complex systems to meet customer and business requirements. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.

You will report directly to our Systems Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Torrance, CA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the successful delivery of innovative system solutions that drive Honeywell’s competitive advantage and satisfy customer needs in a dynamic market environment.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and refine ECS performance models and simulations for complex air and vapor cycle systems, including validation and verification of system level steady state requirements 
  • Conduct thermodynamic, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics analyses to optimize system performance.
  • Definition of system and equipment level key performance and generation/ validation of associated requirements.
  • Creation and maintenance of system level steady state models including run time performance optimization, model validation against component and system test data, and generation of model documentation.
  • System Modeling/Development process coordination and handoffs between internal and external stakeholders, communication with chief engineering and technical management.
  • System Integration Test Support including facility architecture and requirements, test model definition, characterization test plans/procedures, test execution support and data processing/review and model calibration.
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Engineering Physics, or Aerospace Engineering 
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical, chemical, or related engineering fields, with emphasis on thermal management system modeling and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of system design principles, integration, and testing methodologies
  • Proficiency with systems modeling tools and software such as NPSS, SysML, MATLAB, or similar platforms for mechanical thermal analysis and design

WE VALUE

  • Advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical fields
  • Experience in physics-based AI/ML model development
  • Experience in advanced thermal management, advanced vapor cycle systems design and development
  • Experience in mechanical engineering thermal simulations, system modeling and analysis, and system integration test
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities

The annual base salary range for this position is $140,000.00 - $176,000.00. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

Control Systems

Control Systems provides a wide range of mechanical products and value-adding services to Honeywell Aerospace customers, including aircraft manufacturers and operators, and agencies of the U.S. government. The business develops and manufactures air and thermal systems, mechanical components, wheels and braking systems. It also manages and operates facilities for the Federal government. Every 5 seconds, an aircraft lands with Honeywell Wheels and brakes. The entire fleet of U.S military fighters and trainers use Honeywell Cabin Pressure Systems.
