We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineering Intern to support the planning and execution of test campaigns for spacecraft and aerospace defense systems. You will work closely with engineers, program managers, and technical teams to help ensure systems meet performance, environmental, and mission-critical requirements. In this role, you will assist in developing test plans, executing tests, collecting data, analyzing results, and verifying that systems meet specifications. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace technologies in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities- Support the planning, setup, execution, and documentation of component- and system-level tests across mechanical, electrical, and environmental domains
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining test procedures, plans, reports, and data packages aligned with engineering requirements and program needs
- Execute test procedures, collect and validate test data, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and configuration control standards
- Analyze test results, document anomalies, and support root cause investigations in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Coordinate with design, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure tests align with verification and validation requirements
- Prepare for and participate in test readiness reviews, pre-test briefings, and post-test debriefs
- Maintain organized test documentation to support internal, customer, and audit reviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies, tooling, automation, and data analysis practices
- Showcase your work through presentations or project reviews
- Participate in social and professional events with fellow interns and employees
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field at a four-year accredited university
- Academic or project experience in a test, validation, or lab environment
- Working knowledge of, or strong interest in developing expertise with, test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes and safety protocols
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn test management and data analysis tools
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Must be able to work full time (40 hours per week), on-site in Long Beach, CA for 12 consecutive weeks
- Intern Program will run May – August 2026
- Must be able to provide own transportation and housing
- Completed Junior and/or Senior year
- GPA of 3.5 or above
- Exposure to environmental testing concepts (vibration, thermal, shock, TVAC, EMI/EMC)
- Strong technical writing skills
- Familiarity with aerospace and defense test standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation, sensors, and DAQ systems
- Experience with data analysis or automation tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python
- Exposure to failure investigations, root cause analysis, or non-conformance tracking
- Passionate about advancing space security and sustainability

- Base Salary: $28/hour
