Job Description

 AECOM is seeking an experienced Southern California Transit-Rail Engineering Department Lead and Senior Project Manager to join our Los Angeles Office. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

Qualified applicants will be able to demonstrate an established career in the transportation industry and have a successful track record with managing engineering teams and the delivery of transportation infrastructure programs, including alternative delivery projects (DB, PDB or CMGC). This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved with mega capital infrastructure projects for our clients while leading and growing a talented team of transit engineers. The applicant will have demonstrated experience in leading major pursuits and the delivery of major programs. The objective of the position is to lead, grow, and mentor the Southern California transit engineering team as well as to pursue, develop, and execute major projects required to deliver client programs within established and agreed budgets and schedules, thereby expanding AECOM’s reputation as the preferred transportation consultant in the industry. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead development and execution of significant transit-rail projects including light rail, heavy rail subway, commuter rail, high-speed rail, bus rapid transit, aerial or underground project pursuits, and delivery. 

  • Establish relationships with LA Metro, and other local agencies in the City of LA. 

  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in the area of managing and preparing transit-rail project teams. 

  • Proven track record with large client account management, mega-project pursuits, and engineering/planning staff development. 

  • A desire to work with external contractors/consultants, AECOM’s other divisions/regions and interact directly with major clients. 

  • Hire, mentor, retain, and grow the Southern California transit engineering team. 

  • Manage a team of strong and capable transit engineering PMs to deliver Southern California transit engineering projects with technical, commercial, quality, and safety excellence. 

  • Understand the Southern California transit engineering market to be able to anticipate, position for, and win key pursuits. Continuously build the Southern California transit engineering pipeline. Build relationships with and understand needs of key clients.  

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • BA/BS and 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education, including 4 years of leadership. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • BS Civil Engineering 

  • 15+ years of experience leading engineering projects with mega-project management 

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering 

  • Civil Engineer with PE license in California. 

  • Ability to scope/estimate complex projects. 

  • Track and manage teams, task budgets, and schedule experience. 

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and communication skills requiring client interaction. 

  • Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role. 

  • Provide in-depth Quality Control and Quality Assurance for design/project management/program management. 

  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership and managing large alternative delivery projects
