As a Software Engineering Manager, you will design technical approaches, manage a development team, resolve challenges, and drive productivity, while maintaining a hands-on coding role.
CSC Generation Enterprise (CSC) is an AI-enabled multi-brand platform that acquires and transforms retailers into profitable, digital-first, consumer-centric businesses. CSC's retail platform is purpose built around its core M&A strategy and drives alpha by encoding revenue growth, unit margin management, and other expert-level retail practices into automation and AI. CSC owns and operates more than 10 retail, eCommerce, and wholesale brands, including Sur La Table, Backcountry, and One Kings Lane.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will take a hands-on role to design technical approaches, contribute as an individual, and help build our team(s). We expect every member of the team, including you, to be regularly reading and writing code. You should like to code, profile, tinker, refactor, and engineer, not just manage people. Because our Engineering Managers are expected to be at least 50% hands on, our interview process includes coding challenges. You should still be close to the code and your technical skills, enough that you feel comfortable problem solving directly alongside engineers on your team and mentoring junior engineers.
This position will report into the Chief Technology Officer.

- Being a technical owner for your area or service within our retail service cloud
- Identifying and resolving technical challenges, building new features, building and implementing the roadmap/strategy, scaling the platform
- Being point of contact, communicating technical details, pushing back requests if needed
- Building a team of developers, driving productivity
- Replacing legacy code and services and optimizing the stack
- Building frameworks for upcoming projects
- Triaging tickets for the sprint. Planning product roadmaps
