General Description:
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of compiler software engineers. Scientists and engineers at HRL use our quantum software development kit every day to advance our quantum device technology, which includes state-of-the-art developments featured in top scientific journals. The compilers team focuses on building software within our compilation stack, including hardware instruction assemblers and temporal scheduling algorithms, for running complex quantum device programs on specialized control hardware. As the manager of the compilers team, you will be responsible for guiding the team's technical direction, ensuring successful project execution, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of compiler software engineers, ensuring technical excellence and professional growth.
Essential Duties:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and scientists, to ensure software meets the needs of broader system goals.
Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables; identify and mitigate risks proactively.
Ensure best practices for version control, release, and documentation are followed.
Required Skills:
7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or management role.
Experience with Lisp and Python.
Deep understanding of compiler fundamentals including programming language runtimes, and programming language implementations.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of fostering collaborative teams.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field. Candidates with different experience levels may be considered for other positions.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance as required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $204,665 - $262,243 + bonus + benefits.
