About the Chains Team
The Chains team empowers users to connect, curate, and prepare data from a wide range of systems of record—making it analysis- and reporting-ready within the Workiva platform. Our work sits at the core of enterprise data automation, enabling customers to streamline complex workflows across tools, teams, and formats.
You’ll join a highly collaborative, remote-first group of engineers who are passionate about solving integration challenges, building resilient pipelines, and crafting intuitive experiences for users working with large-scale, structured data. We work with Kotlin, TypeScript, Go, Java, and event-driven architectures—but we're tech-agnostic and care most about your ability to learn and problem-solve.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver automation tools that connect workflows across the platform
Build tools and systems that automate data ingestion, transformation, and connectivity between Workiva and third-party platforms
Design and implement scalable services that make it easy for customers to prepare and trust their data
Participate in code reviews and technical design sessions
Contribute to the evolution of our data integration framework, helping users handle increasingly complex reporting and compliance needs
Contribute to a culture that values experimentation, continuous improvement, and psychological safety
Develop a strong understanding of the Workflow product and the problems our customers face
What You'll Need
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of professional software engineering experience; or an advanced degree without experience
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Kotlin, Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative development practices
Strong analytical thinking and debugging skills
A passion for learning and solving complex problems with thoughtful, scalable solutions
Travel and Working Conditions
Willingness to travel up to 10% for team or company gatherings
Reliable internet access for remote work; we support flexible work arrangements
How You’ll Be Rewarded
✅ Salary range in the US: $83,000.00 - $134,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
