Products created using DAPS are superior in performance, lower in cost, rapidly customizable to meet mission and customer-specific requirements, faster to market, and scalable on demand to high volume production. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, and Divergent is now expanding to support mission critical needs in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Join us to be a part of this transformative journey, where your impact will shape the future of technology and production.

Purpose

We are building the software that powers the next generation of vehicle manufacturing. Our tools support the entire product development pipeline — from structural design and simulation to program generation, AI-assisted decision-making, and real-time web applications. As a new graduate, you'll join a high-impact team working at the intersection of hardware, software, and advanced manufacturing.

The Role

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers and contribute to a variety of projects depending on your background and interests, including:

  • Developing modern web applications to streamline engineering workflows
  • Building algorithms for program generation and design automation
  • Applying AI to optimize business and production systems
  • Supporting structural analysis and topology optimization tools

This is a hands-on role where your code will directly impact how our products are built and delivered.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • Graduating in Dec 2025 or Spring 2026 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with web development frameworks such as React, Node.js, Django, or FastAPI
  • Exposure to CAD or simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks/NX, FEA libraries, or other)
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and database systems (SQL or NoSQL)
  • Experience with computational design, topology optimization, or generative algorithms
  • Interest or coursework in AI/ML, especially applied to engineering or business systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
